pchal··on Launch HN: Kitemaker (YC W21) – Fast alternative to Jira, built for remote teams
Congrats on the launch! My favorite task management tool — We’ve been using it since early days for more than a year and very happy with it, especially with how responsive Sigurd and Kevin have been. It really gets out of the way when making work items and makes it easy to have team discussions around these. Highly recommended !
pchal··on Meltano: ELT for the DataOps era
Any plans to integrate with dagster for pipeline orchestration (instead of airflow)?
pchal··on Show HN: Lowdefy – Build internal tools with YAML on an open-source framework
What are the limitations that make it suitable for internal use only? Would it be a good tool for external facing SAAS apps, with auth etc?
pchal··on Don’t Underestimate the Power of a Walk
Walking + podcasts is a great combination. I do like an hour everyday and have learned a ton of actually useful things.
pchal··on The new reading stack
These are great tools but are there any nice iOS apps to quickly take a photo of a physical book page , and with OCR produce a text page that I can highlight, and send highlights to Roam (which I use a lot).

Some books are much better experienced in physical form, e.g I would hate to read Rian Hughes’ XX on a kindle :)

pchal··on Aim: Record, search and compare ML training runs
Interesting effort. Does it snapshot the state of source code at the time an experiment is run? Does it do it without requiring a git commit? I believe the Replicate experiment tracking tool does this.
pchal··on Pitch: Collaborative presentation software for teams
I really like Pitch’s emphasis on Keyboard shortcuts. IMO all UIs should have a keyboard-centric mode. See Kitemaker and Superhuman.

It doesn’t yet have basics like dotted lines and curves lines etc but I assume those and more will come soon.

What is the differentiation compared to SlideBean? And Canva ?

pchal··on DearPyGui
Streamlit and Gradio are in the same category I think, so what are the differences ?

pchal··on Show HN: GUIs for Faster ML Prototyping and Sharing
What about supporting tabular datasets?
pchal··on Show HN: Collected Notes – A note-taking blogging app I made
Any plans to add support for math notation? (Latex, MathJax, ...)
pchal··on Show HN: Supermind – The easiest way to improve memory in all you do
Seems similar to ThoughtSaver? https://www.thoughtsaver.com/

Are the datasets publicly or easily available as well?

Also would be great to include papers with SOTA results on “tabular” Multivariate datasets, the kind that arise in numerous applications, e.g. EHR/MHR, advertising, finance, etc. In other words, something like the UCI ML Repository datasets (which are mostly “small” but still would be great to know the SOTA models for those), and much larger versions of such datasets — I often see papers applying ML to tabular healthcare datasets but the datasets are often not available.

pchal··on Ask HN: What's a good static site generator to use for a blog in 2018?
The best choices currently I think are:

-- Ghost (expensive but dead simple to apply themes) or

-- Hugo + Netflify (for hosting and automatically publishing your site when you push to your repo) + Forestry.io (for a nice front end to edit your posts if you want to avoid the command line)

I care about Markdown plus MathJax support (for math notation) and both these options support that.

pchal··on Hugo vs. Jekyll: Benchmarked
I'm testing out hugo + netlify for blog posts, and tried to use forestry.io as the dashboard + editor, and it looks great, EXCEPT that it messed with the MathJax (math notation within double-dollar signs) in my markdown posts. Why doesn't it just leave it as raw text that I can edit?
pchal··on Ask HN: What is setup for your static blog generator?
hello -- forestry.io looks great, but I had a big problem with it -- there is no support for MathJax within my markdown posts. I had math equations within double-dollar signs and the forestry.io editor removed them, making my math-based post render badly. Looks like there is no support for MathJax. I find it hard to see why forestry.io should mess with the MathJax in my markdown file -- why not leave it as raw text that I can edit?
pchal··on MediaMath's ground-breaking new paper on causal ad-effectiveness measurement
Thanks for the advice, it was my first post :)
pchal··on Deep learning nanodegree foundation
Can you provide details on what type of computing environment will be used in the course? Will it be based on something like Jupyter notebooks, GPUs on AWS, for example?

And will be there be some type of discussion forum, like the one in the other popular deep learning course fast.ai?

pchal··on Publishing with GitHub Pages, now as easy as 1, 2, 3
Still no mathjax :/
pchal··on Frege – a Haskell for the JVM
If there's a way to use Frege with Apache Spark that would be super useful
