phoe18··on Air Lab: A playful and portable air quality measuring device
My mistake, thanks for pointing it out.
phoe18··on Air Lab: A playful and portable air quality measuring device
Isn't this too expensive compared to something like an air gradient which costs 140$ when you assemble it yourself? (AirGradient is also missing from the comparison table)

``` Based on the search results, the new moon in August 2025 will occur late on Friday, August 22nd, 2025 in the Pacific Time Zone (PDT), specifically around 11:06 PM.
In other time zones, like the Eastern Time Zone (ET), this event falls early on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 (around 2:06 AM). ```
This post compares prices in LA: https://www.reddit.com/r/waymo/s/sU6l51A0XD. It's inline with what I mentioned above.
phoe18··on Waymo One is now open to all in Los Angeles
> Well currently Waymo is about double the price of Uber.
This is not accurate in my experience in SF. Most of the time, the price is comparable to UberX and during peak-times, the price is upto 20% higher than UberX.
The branding is very confusing, shouldn't this be Gemini Pro 1.5 since the most capable model is called Ultra 1.0?
I think the bard version is most likely a hallucination. I see the bard version from the latest update as `2023.12.06` in https://bard.google.com/updates with the title "Bard is getting its biggest upgrade yet with Gemini Pro".
I am guessing this update is not available in Europe.
  Yes. Your conversations may be reviewed by our AI trainers to improve our systems.
I don't think this is guaranteed. They may not train ChatGPT directly on user chat sessions but the data can still be seen by OpenAI employees.
phoe18··on The largest electric school bus fleet in the US just launched in Maryland
> Superintendent Dr. Monifa B. McKnight said at yesterday’s launch that when procurement of the 326 electric buses is complete, “We are going to be saving upwards of 6,500 gallons of diesel fuel per day, and immediately, this is going to cut costs by 50%.”
It would help if they include some information about the upfront costs of electrification. For example, How much does the charging infrastructure cost?
phoe18··on Focus is saying no to good ideas
phoe18··on Twitter Adopts Limited Duration Shareholder Rights Plan
I am not sure how comparing against a value from 5 days ago will help. Twitter stock shot up 27% after Elon Musk disclosed his ownership stake on April 4[1]. Although the price has trended down since then, the stock is still trading roughly 14% higher than what it did on April 1 (The trading day before the announcement).
phoe18··on Things you notice when you quit the news (2016)
I agree with what the article says about news but I think the same idea is applicable to a wider category of 'flash consumption'. One common example I can think of are the Twitter threads with clickbaity titles claiming to give you knowledge about something in 7-10 140 character chunks. They induce a certain FOMO as you scroll by but leave you with no lasting memory about the subject.
