I do think it's easy to not fund LGBTQ+ hate by not eating at Chik-fil-a, and it's easy to not fund trans hate by not funding JK Rowling. If you do either of those things, I do think lesser of you because you obviously think lesser of me if a chicken sandwich or book is more important.
Whether or not it’s extreme and weird, it’s certainly widely held. In North America, buying a Tesla is widely seen (and rightly so IMO) as condoning Elon’s Naziism.
Everything always has bias, and nothing is ever neutral. Claiming something is "unbiased" just means you either don't know or don't care what bias it has.
(ultimately I believe objectivity is somewhat of a lie we tell ourselves, but that's a discussion for another time)
Recently I've become more and more aware of the disconnect between my "self" and what my brain does - I'll often do or say things then, a few seconds later, find myself processing what I just did or said then correcting myself. It's quite strange to remember yourself doing something incorrectly, but not remember actually thinking about doing that thing.
I love that I could justify my answer to it - spoiler below
I chose CompuServe for oldest file sharing service, and it told me that it was an online service not a cloud file hosting service. I then answered "CompuServe had file sharing" and I received 100pts
Nowadays the scraped training data is only one part of the training process. The RL phase of training can instill a knowledge of tactics like sub-agent delegation without documentation about them being present in the training corpus. Context isn't the only way for a model with an early knowledge cutoff to know about it.
I've never understood recreational use of amphetamines. When I take them (prescribed, of course), I feel like garbage but I'm able to get my work done (which is the only reason I take the damn stuff). If I could choose to shed my executive dysfunction but never be able to take stimulants again, I wouldn't even have to think about it - obviously I'd take that deal.
Cloudflare doesn't retain request bodies by default, and if you don't trust that then you shouldn't trust the third party AI provider either. Cloudflare does cache responses, but that doesn't typically apply on API endpoints and is trivially disableable.
German brands in general tend to do that - BMW is notorious for under-reporting power, for example. They'd rather understate than have customers be mad at them for underdelivering.
The hatred stems from retrocomputing enthusiasts wanting an escape from modern computing. When someone's having fun with their retrocomputing hobby, they don't want what they see as the worst part of modern computing playing any role in that hobby. They're trying to get away from the hype, but it's inescapable.
And unlike the Twitter acquisition, Tumblr users basically universally hate its new owner. Twitter has plenty of Elon boosters, but I've never seen someone on Tumblr actually _like_ photomatt.
There's the Japanese approach of deploying a dense cluster of satellites above one geographical area (QZSS), but of course that only works in the areas those satellites are above.
Transit in some countries, like India, genuinely is that expensive. Keep in mind it doesn’t cost Cloudflare any more to serve Indian traffic from Marsaille than to serve non-peered French traffic from that colo - they aren’t paying the cost of getting traffic between India and France.
That’s just because lots of people are checking if Gemini is down, and downdetector only tells you if lots of other people are viewing that downdetector page
Atomoxetine can cause some wild mood-related side effects, just as an FYI for anyone considering it. For me, it made me perpetually pissed off, and made me feel like I had a cold. I’m jealous of people it works well for though - seems like a great drug when it works!
Snapshots are the weekly (at least they used to be, I think they're less frequent now) development snapshots - they are explicitly pre-beta versions that you have to opt in to.
