Personally I think it's a combination of isolation and stress.
This was why I have finally switched away from developing on windows, there's something about the VS remote code server setup that will spawn tons of processes and eventually slow WSL to a crawl. Possibly my fault, I haven't gone through all my extensions and settings carefully, but also not an issue when running VS code on unix without the server.
Another one is a reasonably powerful but client friendly interface, which sounds easy but almost all other platforms fail in some way.
Lastly it isn't totally bad for headless ecommerce, at least if you dont look at the accounts system too hard.
That said, they solve some difficult problems and no one else comes close at the moment.
Then came vue which solved all of this in a clean way with a lot of other benefits to boot. I chose it over react because it can coexist relatively fine with old code, and with years worth of sites to maintain there's a fair amount of that.
Unfortunately the processes they are squeezing often involve budgets and salaries, like those of factory workers, teachers and nurses. Its a bit hard to sympathise with this kind of 'value' sometimes.
> In fast food, for example, self-order touch screens are vastly inferior to a trained order taker > Grocery checkout automation is atrocious
I don't kniw about elsewhere but in NZ and Japan I'll pick self check out every time it's there. Its a bit sad on the human side of things but it is easier
Not sure I agree with that, you don't have to be like other people to get along with them. A strong social fabric at it's root is things like being willing to talk to all walks of life and not nurturing a fear of the unknown.
