This should fix my problem of not being able to connect to my site though a corporate firewall because I run multiple tornado instances on a single server on different ports. Before nginx wasn't able to route port 80 requests to the chat sub-domains, but now it will be able to.. w00t
I could 'create' dollars too if I had a lot of resources the forge bills and coins. The point is any government can fuck with a currency.. what's new? There are plenty of ways to defend against attacks.. I was around during the P2P client wars. I know all about it. Back when the RIAA was trying to disrupt file sharing networks there were trusted/signed black lists of bad hosts to exclude from the network.. and that is only one defense type, there are many.
What about instead of having non-nullable types - do what objective-c does and 'drop' calls to null objects. There's been a number of times that instead of my application blowing up from a null exception, whatever feature my user was using just didn't work, but the rest of the application ran fine and they could report the bug to me. It's a much nicer user experience to have the car 'not' blow up if the AC button isn't working.
Mathematics. Which makes it a lot harder to mess with - as opposed to government backed currencies. It's also harder to forge and easier to transfer than material currencies like gold.
Show me a fiat currency the appreciates over time and maybe I'll look at it differently. Have you ever thought of that the root of our over-consumption society might be caused by the need to keep our money always moving to prevent it from depreciating?
Bitcoin is created by rules of mathematics and mined by problem solving. Gold is creating by mining and refining and governed by the rules of physics.. What does any of this have to do with the definition of fiat? It's already defined, lookup the latin - 'it shall be'
Fiat does not imply constructed. The notion that gold (or tulips) are valuable are equally constructed ideas by humans. Nothing has 'inherent' value apart from the value humans perceive these things to have. No, the only thing fiat implies is manipulation - the ability for a government or person to mess with the value of a currency by 'willing it to be.' Bitcoin is not fiat.
Exactly. People take note - Bitcoin is NOT fiat currency. Fiat is latin for 'let it be done.' As in governments can create new money at will. New bitcoins can't be created on demand by anyone.
Yea this feels like a demo video.. not like a real ad at all.. like some upstart advertising company made this.. it screams amature.. seriously is that what you think?
Psychology has some of the worst 'science' there is. It's studying alchemy before understanding chemistry. Reading psychology journal articles is painful.
I had a hard time concentrating in school as well. Always in the principal's office, and got C's in conduct all the way through 6th grade. I thank god my parents never had me 'diagnosed' because I was guaranteed to be labeled 'ADD' and been prescribed medication for this truly bullshit condition concocted by the modern age.
It's not a 'good thing' to deal with piles of legacy spaghetti code with no method to it's madness. Sure if you've been coding UIs for years, I'm sure we'd work fine together. In my experience, coding designers, have not been experienced coders.
Recent designers I've met around NYC have been novices, jquery dependents, and people who took a 12 week how to code ruby class and somehow got hired. To me a designer is someone who can make a site look good in photoshop and then hand it off to be implemented/coded. Designers who code, but who are not 'coders' scare the crap out of me and I avoid them like the plague. Web 'apps' today are that, apps, making API calls, binding data, and managing state - along with profiling for speed, memory, and where resources are loaded from. It's just like any other GUI of the last 20 years. Sure there are UI designers, but they typically aren't coding it together, but I guess the short supply of programmers has exacerbated the situation.
Coming from NYC, the Valley is the suburbs, and suburbs with public transportation don't go together well. People are so spread out, which means the public transport is spread out, which means the utilization rate is lower and not very cost effective like it is in dense urban areas. The valley would have to re-designed.. but yea that isn't happening.
