Bad opinions but not as bad as those of the person reading this.

platinumrad··on Binance-hacker-1029 – $5.6B stolen from Binance
Is that not what is happening here?
platinumrad··on Most Americans Say AI Is Bad for Society, Oppose More Data Centers
Not surprising when Sam keeps on talking about how his AI is going to take your job and Dario counters by saying his AI is going to kill you.
platinumrad··on Anthropic's Public Benefit Charter
I am a materialist and I believe it is possible to create artificial consciousness. I just don't think a stack of GPUs is it and the burden of proof is on the party making the claim.
platinumrad··on OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud
OpenRouter doesn't see the encrypted reasoning traces.
platinumrad··on Anthropic's Public Benefit Charter
If LLMs are conscious (they aren't) then Anthropic isn't putting its money where its mouth is, unless it somehow thinks the enslavement and torture of conscious beings on a massive scale is also in line with its values.
platinumrad··on Anthropic's Public Benefit Charter
It's really just the constant fear mongering against open models, the overly messianic tone of their marketing, and the endless hinting that "Claude" is a conscious being fully deserving of the same rights as a human.
platinumrad··on Tsrs: A Port of TypeScript to Rust
I just vibecofed tsasm. tsrs is obsolete now and anyone who still uses it is hopelessly behind the times. The tsrs team should delete the repository immediately and join my project.
platinumrad··on DeepSeek banned from U.S. federal civilian agencies under new DHS order
You can just host the inference locally... Baseten and Fireworks already do that for you.
platinumrad··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
Is anyone actually oneshotting a whole app or even vibecoding one in multiple steps without it being "guided work"? I really wish announcements (like DeepSeek's recent one) would stop focusing on the ability of the model to spit out Minecraft clones on demand.

platinumrad··on Anthropic thinks its AI might be conscious
Please explain. Suleyman seems like the only sane executive in these conversations about AI "consciousness".
platinumrad··on Anthropic thinks its AI might be conscious
Yawn. They've been not-so-subtly hinting at this at every possible opportunity for the past year.
platinumrad··on One-Shot San Francisco Homeless Shooter from Y Combinator Alum
Boring.
platinumrad··on Fire at Starlink site in Bulgaria after suspected sabotage in Poland
I thought they "went away" after the Yandex data centers were hit.
platinumrad··on Character.ai's Bankruptcy Documents Show the Economics of AI Don't Work
I doubt the NSFW-focused ones have taken on venture funding. They're probably leaner shops with a dramatically smaller userbase that is more likely to actually pay.
platinumrad··on Meta and Microsoft take steps to reduce employee usage of Claude AI
Corporations pay API rates.
platinumrad··on Show HN: Go++, a Go superset with classes, exceptions and more
Upvoted for sheer insanity. (Multiple inheritance in 2026 is certainly a choice.) This is not the direction I would have expected the Scala/Kotlin/TypeScript of Go to have gone, but I guess that's why the Go++ naming is very appropriate.
platinumrad··on Extra Big Ass Intelligence
You don't read if you think nobody used em dashes frequently before LLMs went mainstream.
platinumrad··on Pi 1.0
The thing I don't like about minimal plugin-based harnesses is that I don't always have the time to figure out which plugins and safe and sensible, and at least one of those is false more often than not when it comes to AI tools. Sorting by popular does not solve the problem.
platinumrad··on GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
Cut from the same "rationalist" cloth.
platinumrad··on GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
GLM 5.2 was used by Hugging Face for defense when they were being hacked by OpenAI because the guardrails on closed models meant they refused to help.
platinumrad··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
There are very practical reasons to not hire someone who abruptly dips after less than a year on the job that have nothing to do with being punitive.
platinumrad··on Sonnet 5.5
The contrast between Anthropic, who seem to be training their models to output ever-increasing numbers of reasoning tokens, and Fireworks's Ember-1, which was explicitly trained to preserve the quality of a model's responses while cutting down on reasoning, is interesting. Claude Code also uses more many tokens per task per model than any other harness in benchmarks.
platinumrad··on Sonnet 5.5 trumps Fable 5.1 on Artificial Analysis
This says more about Artificial Analysis than either model.
platinumrad··on MongoDB CEO resigns to join Meta
> However I imagine those that are upset about CEO pay will find this unconvincing. Is there any other way to interpret this?

Judging by your recent comments, you seem to have an axe to grind with people who are "upset about CEO pay" and I don't think it's possible to convince you to look any things from any other angle.

A CEO abruptly resigning is read by the market as a signal. Unless you think this person is ~$6.5B more valuable than any potential replacement, the full quantity of the loss cannot be ascribed to the value he provides as an employee.

platinumrad··on Federal judge orders Texas to air condition all prisons by the end of 2029
> For those wrongly convicted, I don't want them to get air-conditioning in prison

platinumrad··on Trump orders AI rebrand as "super intelligence"
A gift to the frontier lab marketing departments before their IPOs.

Your entire comment history really is just this, huh.
platinumrad··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
Your entire recent comeback history is defenses of Anthropic. Do you work for them?
