pointillistic··on Facebook removes QAnon conspiracy group with 200k members
you can't compare some web forum to a paper that pretends to deal in actual news. Defend free speech above all or it is a slippery slope. and this is country sliding down that slope as we speak.
pointillistic··on Facebook removes QAnon conspiracy group with 200k members
If people here give up on free speech, all is lost. This and other groups are just a symptom. The reason these groups flourish is because the legacy media (aka MSM) has lost all trust. Should you also ban NYT for the Russian interference conspiracy theory? If the legacy media deal in conspiracy, you should expect a reaction on the periphery of the political spectrum.
pointillistic··on Germany plans to dim lights at night to save insects
Some European countries, named here, only very recently cared more about insects than people.
pointillistic··on I Am Deleting the Blog
Dark ages are upon us and NYT leads the way. This is the most significant blog in the last decade plus. NYT should be canceled before they cancel every shred of independent thinking in the country.

pointillistic··on In 2019, Americans went more to the library than to the movies on average
they are not reading books in the library, they are working on computers or even streaming movies. I am in a library all the time, so this is what I observe.
pointillistic··on ProtonMail takes aim at Google with an encrypted calendar
I agree 100%, Fastmail is just a superb complete service.
pointillistic··on Germany Calls for European Firewall Against U.S. Sanctions
One would think that with it's communist history Germany would be on the side of the Western Values. In addition Globalism hollowed out the western know-how,via cut and paste to China. Germany stands to lose from it the most with precision manufacturing being transferred to China. Markel is picking the wrong friends.
pointillistic··on Statistical Life Expectancy of a Roman Emperor
1st rear of rule death is most likely, if the 1st year is survived the danger gradually diminished to the 7th year. The safest years for an emperor are from 8th to 12th years of rule. After the 12th year the danger is increasing again. World politics in nutshell! In the study they compare Emperor's survival to a mechanical failure. I.e a car components are most likely to fail on it's first year. If first year is "survived" a car is "stable" till it's worn out on the 12th.

It is intuitive that chances of getting whacked are the highest on the 1st year. What is interesting are the other two markers 8th year the safest, 12th year is when the danger goes up again.

pointillistic··on Depression and suicide linked to air pollution in new global study
This is way beyond air, this is water we drink, the chemicals in processed food, the pesticides in the produce. The compounds in furniture, paints, stains, carpeting, general building materials including insulation, plastic plumbing,HVAC components, insistence on living in un-ventilated, year around closed windows spaces.

pointillistic··on Altavista: The rise and fall of the biggest pre-Google search engine
When David Wetherell, of CMGI fame, bought Alta Vista and was driving it to the IPO, I remember telling him urgently that Google was eating AV lunch. He just brushed me off, as if I was telling him nonsense. Same fate with Lycos and if you will Yahoo.
pointillistic··on Amazon Pulls Out of Planned New York City Campus
In this story I am only sorry for people who bought up all the real estate around the future campus, ouch! Remember all the "insider trading" condo purchases, just before the announcement, that is going to hurt...
pointillistic··on The Free and Open Internet
People are starting to see through this BS that Wilsons of the world been preaching and profiting from for a quarter century. I only care for my money, not your job. I also prefer surveillance driven ad model that was never free and will never be free.
pointillistic··on The Free and Open Internet
That free model that Wilson louds got us to this point in the first place. Over last twenty years that Wilson been making money investing in free Twitter, etc., thousands of people lost jobs in journalism, etc. He has no solution or suggestion, just ranting. Isn't he the freemium guy anyhow?
