priley··on [dead]
Sam, how young can they apply for YC? :)

I know this isn't the place for it, but when she said that, I just had to share. Give her a chance... time is on her side.

priley··on North Korea Did Not Hack Sony (DefCon Security)
Totally agree.. and Marc is one of the best security engineers I know. I think we are all just to embarrassed (including the President) to admit it.
priley··on LinkedIn Neutered Rapportive Today
Every one of our customers who has access to our API demonstrates that the Ark (YC W12) API has much more data than FullContact's API. Send me an email and I'll hook you up.
priley··on LinkedIn Neutered Rapportive Today
Vibe just uses FullContact (see their FAQ) who's data is pretty incomplete.

Connect6 uses LeadFerret to power their plugin, which is even worse.

priley··on Elance Flappy Bird jobs
Haha. Midnox brothers are my favorite of the YCW2012 class.
priley··on Salesforce.com Announces Two $1 Million Winning Teams for Hackathon
The issue is they specific said you can't start or use existing code before the date (still there in the rules PDF). I know that many very talented teams followed that rule even though theycould have used some of their older repos and did something even more impressive than Upshot. Then they respond to a forum question, weeks after the hackathon started, saying "yeah sure, just not a significant amount". Most programmers were heads down in their code and didn't check the forum. That's wrong and they did nothing to explain or correct this.
priley··on Two Harvard University Alumni Win Salesforce $1M Hackathon Prize
Yeah! The same Thom Kim who demo'd UPSHOT at Salesforce before the hackathon was even announced. :http://www.meetup.com/Salesforce-com-Integration-Analytics/e...
priley··on Two Harvard University Alumni Win Salesforce $1M Hackathon Prize
I had a great time too. But it unfortunately does look they started Upshot (their startup) way before the hackathon was even announced.. pretty messed up: http://www.meetup.com/Salesforce-com-Integration-Analytics/e...
priley··on What three women learned launching on a college campus
Ha. But it does mean "loop" or handle in Latin, and a bridge in chemistry. Now I know a new word in Finnish. :)

priley··on Phishing with Linkedin's Intro
You can do that in secure ways too. We did that (another YC company) with Ark Mail:

priley··on LinkedIn Intro: Doing the Impossible on iOS
Interesting hack. So since you inject that social info at the time of the email, that means if someone gets a new job, it will still show the old employer info / position in the older emails... right? What made you guys do this instead of your own mail app like Mailbox?
priley··on LinkedIn Intro: Doing the Impossible on iOS
Ark does, and with significantly more data.
priley··on Cue is Shutting Down
We have essentially the same functionality coming out soon. Register at ark.com
priley··on Flutter (YC W12) acquired by Google
Awesome! Looking forward to jedi controls in my Gmail. Great job guys.
priley··on Why can a scam company raise $40 Million Series C + $76 Million Series B?
This website should definitely be part of the Dark Patterns UX Library. It's sad how people compose UX (and investors invest in) shady user experiences designed to trick people.

priley··on Re-Inventing the Hackathon
I gave them something much harder to break, but I guess they wanted anything to be able to break it.
priley··on Why I'm Getting a PhD
It's totally not worth it unless you want to be a professor. Trust me.
priley··on Vayable (YC S12) Launches Destinations
Awesome! Can't wait to use this for my next adventure.
priley··on Kytephone (YC W12) lets parents monitor and schedule their teen's phone usage
Totally needed this. Great job guys!
priley··on Why I'm quitting Facebook
Absolutely using it to sell books (at a high cost, btw, if he tries to get back on FB), but he brings up some interesting points. "It does things on our behalf when we're not even there."

But my favorite part is at the bottom where we are all invited to "like" CNN Opinions on...wait for it.. FB. You'd think he demand that they not have that below his article.

priley··on Introducing Graph Search
Pretty awesome that Facebook could pull this off so quickly. I literally said that exact line to Lars (who lead the search team) during our meetings last year... I can't believe he reused verbatim in the video:

"Facebook is for the all the people you know... Ark is for all the people you should know".

priley··on YC Company stealing code from another YC Company
Agreed. What's odd is how the Politify founder (who applied to YC as WellFrankly) posted the same posting and image at exactly the same time as the fake account that he used my name for (which he is now denying.)

This is the same Politify guy who posted fake images on Reddit, and upvoted it using fake accounts. Sigh.

priley··on YC Company stealing code from another YC Company
This is your fake noob account, sharing your same image that you posted from your "wellfrankly" HN account. Please stop adding unnecessary noise to HN. Thank you.

priley··on Copying code is not cool (Ark.com YC W12)
This is the founder of WellFrankly (formerly Politify), who went so far as to impersonate me and make fake accounts:

priley··on YC Company stealing code from another YC Company
This is actually been posted by the founder of Politify. He's impersonating me, Patrick Riley. Grow up, dude. Impersonation in the state of California is illegal.
priley··on Followup to "I bought more than 1 million Facebook data entries for $5"
Oharo, I'm curious why your only comments on HN are two slanders against Ark, on exactly the same day you first registered on HN?
priley··on Followup to "I bought more than 1 million Facebook data entries for $5"
? It's true that there is a low quality dump of FB data from years ago, but it's totally useless in terms of our faceted search and we never use these kinds of sources.
priley··on Followup to "I bought more than 1 million Facebook data entries for $5"
I'm the founder of Ark that that's totally false.
priley··on Moby: Share your location in real time
:) Love it.
priley··on Moby: Share your location in real time
Glympse was founded by dinosaurs.. retired Microsoft guys. I'd put my money on three talented teens with a better UX in their first version every day of the week. Keep on shipping, Moby team!
