If it can automate your time by more than that it's a good trade.

Some examples are easier than others, like the mentioned 12/25. 12/12 is Saturday -> 25-12 is 13 more days -> same day as 1 before 12/12 -> Friday.

If you wanted to do some research or learn about post training and agent harnesses, is that a good option with these local models? What hardware is recommended, or easiest to go with a Mac Studio with 64GB+ RAM?

That was interesting. I was hoping for him to dive deeper into specific cases but I suppose the essay was long enough. Any other recommendations (potentially from https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/essays-and-articles.html#Laws)?

just to be clear its a small piece like this https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Adaptor-Charger-Extender-Sams... which I feel like is much easier to bring around than another cable, but I can see how it's annoying to have another dongle

A friend showed me usb adapters from usb-c to lightning and I found that very helpful for usb-c -> micro as well to charge the kindle.

Any specific highlight from Bogdan? Nothing jumped out from a quick skim.

> Text is actually numbers

Text can be represented by numbers but they aren't the same datatype. They don't support the same operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc).

There was a free tier of photos and videos under a certain resolution which didn't count towards your storage which they're removing.

I was just reading about programmer's block / writer's block. This Quora answer https://www.quora.com/Do-programmers-suffer-from-Writers-Blo... gives a few helpful tips such as just write some functions to get you going and get the program to show output as quickly as possible (hello world, failing unit tests, whatever). Stopping when you've done the hard work of figuring out what to do next seems like a good technique as well. I don't think you should interrupt yourself mid-task though vs. pausing when you're ready for the next logical piece.

Wow that was a very interesting analogy and theory. Thanks for sharing! I've also never heard of SSC before. I saw the top 10 posts SSC lists in the about page, but do you have any other recommendations for articles relevant to the HN crowd?

What’s wrong with Redhat Linux?

I don't do any GUI programming but that doesn't sound like such a bad thing when the target platform (browser) is just about everywhere.

What are other suggestions? (I haven't done any searching but it sounds like you had some in mind.)

After seeing the huge improvements that JavaScript has gone through over the years I'm all for language updates. Same with Java and C++ (although not as much for Java and I don't know C++ but I always hear C++11 is "new").

re: 1) any way to use a (named) pipe to replace a directory besides flattening out the dir?

For 1) how do other systems handle data being stored and passed between processes?

Except dictionary comprehensions don't leak their variables.

It's a library that you can integrate into your application rather than passing requests via an intermediary (so performance would improve). It's not necessarily a better solution unless you're optimizing for performance. It probably isn't if you're going for ease of development and maintainability.

Awesome, thanks for the share. How's the battery life?

Maybe not wipe out, but potentially take your job.

Awesome, thanks for sharing (your experiences and the book pointer). Definitely motivating to see your progression and I'll have to make some time to enter some competitions.

How much time on average did you spend on each competition? Did that time increase or decrease (or was not affected?) as you progressed in skill?

Also what was your background before starting to compete?

Can you give any background on how they typically discover the chemical structure of new drugs? Or provide a few good pointers?

There's been work on 64-bit Android for a while now. https://android-review.googlesource.com/#/q/status:merged+64...

You make a good point. I was just hoping to lower the boundary between people thinking about reading more, and actually going to read more.

Quick google search brings up that it's available here: https://www.u-cursos.cl/usuario/9553d43f5ccbf1cca06cc02562b4...

So.. what did they do to bring the price down? Take a hit and lose money on each phone sold to get gain relevance?

Any explanation of the giant spike for ART? GC misbehaving?
