ptrkrlsrd··on Show HN: OffChess – Offline chess puzzles app
I recently deleted the chess.com app due to monthly price, so I'm thrilled to start using this app instead! Good job!
ptrkrlsrd··on Approved Cameras
I would guess the Panasonic S1H or the BGH1 is cheapest. The Blackmagic cameras on the list aren’t that pricey either.

ptrkrlsrd··on Oslo had 0 pedestrian, 0 cyclist, 0 children and 1 driver trafic deaths in 2019
The cause of the decline is mentioned in the article:

"- Oslo has received several regulations that have reduced the number of places where it is possible to drive. This is especially true within the city center and downtown areas. People have started cycling more. The risk of accidents between motorists and cyclists has been reduced. The more you separate the different road groups, the less the risk of serious traffic accidents. And then we see that the speed limit has been lower on several roads, says Steen."

ptrkrlsrd··on Ask HN: What is the most beautiful piece of code you've ever read?
My favorite is this one-liner for generating the Fibonacci sequence in Haskell:

  fibonacci = 1 : 1 : [x + y | (x, y) <- zip fibonacci (tail fibonacci)]
ptrkrlsrd··on Ask HN: Best ways to spend money towards climate efforts
What source says cutting all meat production in USA and EU would impact global emissions by 1%?
ptrkrlsrd··on Ask HN: What does your development stack look like in your favorite language?
I'm a full stack developer who usually work with Go, Rust, .Net Core or Haskell + some frontend stuff. I got two laptops for development, one running Arch and one running MacOS and often switch between them.

1. Install Emacs, kitty and Neovim

2. Clone dotfiles and my Doom Emacs config

3. Install Go, Rust, .Net Core and NPM

4. Install Docker and kubectl

5. Get my secrets from my secret source

ptrkrlsrd··on Ask HN: Go-to web stack today?
Frontend: - Framework: Vue/React + VueX/Redux - JS Flavor: Typescript - CSS: SASS - Server: NGinx

Backend: - Language: Go, C# (.Net Core) or Rust - Database: Postgres. (Redis if needed)

Deployment: - Kubernetes or in simple cases a Unix based server running Docker. - CI: GitLab CI and/or Drone.io - Hosting: Google Cloud, AWS or Digital Ocean

Personally I stay away from Windows Servers, Standard .NET and MSSQL when possible.

To everyone switching to GitLab or considering it: Theres a feature on GitLab where you can import all your GitHub repos in on go. Or you can do it one by one if you want.
ptrkrlsrd··on GoPro lays off 270
The uploaded title seems to be cut short, as the title of the article is "GoPro to lay off 270 workers in an effort to cut costs".
ptrkrlsrd··on Introduction to logic programming with Prolog
Great tutorial! Made me want to go back to Prolog again. A little sidenote for those who run MacOS with brew - you can install Prolog with "brew install swi-prolog" instead of using the binary version.
ptrkrlsrd··on Show HN: An attempt to rethink a music sequencer design
As a musician I must say that I love the simplicity, version control and workflow of this application! While as a developer I must say that I love seeing a modern cross platform application developed using something else than Electron.
ptrkrlsrd··on C puzzles
Awesome site! I found it useful to test the code using https://bit.run, but there are probably plenty similar sites out there.
ptrkrlsrd··on Ask HN: How to get started with machine learning?
This is a great article about learning machine learning: https://medium.com/learning-new-stuff/machine-learning-in-a-...
ptrkrlsrd··on iGAN – Deep learning software that generates images with a few brushstrokes
The results of this image editing tool would be a great starting point for matte paintings and for similar applications.
ptrkrlsrd··on Generating naming languages
Think I'll use this generator for generating endpoints for my new open API
ptrkrlsrd··on 30 years later, QBasic is still the best
Processing is a great and fun way to learn programming! I learned it that way, and I found that it kept my interest cause I could use it in a creative way while it also was easy to use.
ptrkrlsrd··on Go Proverbs: Simple, Poetic, Pithy
Add some instrumentals and this becomes Radiohead's "Fitter Happier" anno 2016
