It's very easy to build it yourself if you want to try it right now.

quux··on This Month in Ladybird – October 2026
Ladybird has been really shaping up over the last month or so, I pull and build the latest bits every morning and use it for low stakes web browsing (HN, news sites, reddit, youtube, blogs, etc.) and it's getting very close to the point where I forget that it's a pre-alpha.

Very exciting to watch a completely new browser/browser engine come together. Reminds me of the early days of Mozilla and Gecko

quux··on Cops Can Bypass iPhone's Automatic Reboot to Get into Locked Phones
Perhaps for a short time. As soon as Apple understands the exploit I expect them to patch it. They may even back port the fix to older iOS versions as well.
quux··on Instrument clusters are now paid extras in two Hyundai models
Because there's a speed display along the left side of the center display. Teslas have been doing this legally for years.

Even before Teslas, I had a Toyota Yaris that had a center mounted instrument cluster a few years ago. I guess it makes it cheaper/easier to sell into both left hand drive and right hand drive markets.

quux··on The first early human eggs from stem cells
No, I don’t think so, because the egg still needs to be fertilized by a sperm cell to develop into an embryo.

Now if the sperm cell were from the same donor I don’t know what would happen

quux··on Kickstarter is forced to ban adult content by payment processors
It's not people using stolen cards, it's people feeling shame or regret after making an intentional purchase and using chargebacks to "undo" the purchase

quux··on The map that keeps Burning Man honest
2023 came pretty close to your nightmare scenario
quux··on The map that keeps Burning Man honest
We called it "Continuous Improvement Man" because by the 3rd round of building our camp we had the process really dialed in
quux··on The map that keeps Burning Man honest
To paraphrase Captain Malcom Reynolds: "My days of not taking Burning Man seriously are definitely coming to a middle."
quux··on The map that keeps Burning Man honest
The natural tension between chaos and order is one of the things that makes Burning Man so interesting.
quux··on The map that keeps Burning Man honest
Worth noting: Plants, living or dead, are banned from Burning Man because they turn into moop really easily, but some always end up there anyway

quux··on Opus 4.7 to 4.6 Inflation is ~45%
It must, if it now outputs more tokens than 4.6's tokenizer for the same input. I think the announcement and model cards provide a little more detail as to what exactly is different
quux··on Anonymous request-token comparisons from Opus 4.6 and Opus 4.7
If only there were an Open AI company who's mandate, built into the structure of the company, were to make frontier models available to everyone for the good of humanity.

> Adell was just drunk enough to try, just sober enough to be able to phrase the necessary symbols and operations into a question which, in words, might have corresponded to this:

quux··on Qwen3.6-35B-A3B on my laptop drew me a better pelican than Claude Opus 4.7
This is a useless benchmark now a days, every model provider trains their models on making good pelicans. Some have even trained every combination of animal/mode of transportation
quux··on Does Gas Town 'steal' usage from users' LLM credits to improve itself?
With the exception of a couple of comments that add context like that this might be a dev feature that was unintentionally enabled in a released version of Gas Town, the majority of the rest of this discourse seems to be:

"I've never used Gas Town, but I'm mad that there are people who like something I don't like."

I’ve had my technicians license for about 10 months and it’s been fun, especially when I’ve spent some time in a desert with a bunch of other hams around.
