rachkovsky··on Fort Hood attacker's execution by firing squad will be livestreamed
I remember seeing hanging of Saddam Hussein on TV in America.
rachkovsky··on SVG favicons in action
Animated icons can be quite annoying.
rachkovsky··on None of my projects want to be SPAs
What "state side-effects" are you dealing with?
rachkovsky··on Aging Parents with Lots of Stuff, and Children Who Don’t Want It
So tired of paywalled nytimes links!
rachkovsky··on Petition to open source Flash
Code is art too.
rachkovsky··on The New Firefox and Ridiculous Numbers of Tabs
I'm using zeerka.com for exactly that: research projects that are saved as groups of links. And it's browser agnostic.
rachkovsky··on Money can be stolen from an Uber account
I had an opposite (BAD) experience with Amex. I switched my internet provider, called the old one and cancelled the service. They didn't give me any cancellation number, but kept charging me monthly via Amex. They were going out of business (no wonder), so they stopped picking up the phone and had PO Box for the address, but kept charging!

When I asked Amex to cancel or prevent further charges, they refused to do anything without a cancellation number, which I didn't have and couldn't get.

So, your mileage may vary.

rachkovsky··on Ask HN: Books you wish you had read earlier?
No Excuses!: The Power of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy. It's so good. I keep rereading it. Does wonders to my motivation and productivity.
rachkovsky··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
I do and I don't.

I don't use browser bookmarks/favorites, but I have created and use zeerka.com browser homepage that keeps all the links I need, accessible in any browser, taggable, searchable.

rachkovsky··on Ask HN: Do you still use browser bookmarks?
Try zeerka.com if you like favicons.
rachkovsky··on Scrimba: a video format for communicating code
Please add a favicon!
rachkovsky··on Txt.fyi
Cool idea. You need favicon, so it looks nicer when bookmarked or saved in dashboard sites, like zeerka.com
rachkovsky··on Acute exercise increases expression of telomere protective genes in heart tissue
Thanks a lot for the Healthcare Triage link!
rachkovsky··on Ask HN: What're the best-designed things you've ever used?
Nest Learning Thermostat: https://store.nest.com/product/thermostat
rachkovsky··on A friendly web development tutorial for complete beginners
I know that black on white is not cool anymore, but a little bit more contrast would benefit the site. Grey on grey is hard to read, I want to wipe the screen cause it seem dusty.
rachkovsky··on Opera Neon concept browser
Didn't even noticed that change since using zeerka.com. At work I have to test the same bunch of web sites in a variety of browsers, so using each browser's bookmark manager would be really painful.
rachkovsky··on Choose Firefox Now, or Later You Won't Get a Choice (2014)
Firefox Reader View feature with audio narration is the best! And no other browser has it!
rachkovsky··on Old Geek Jobs: fighting against ageism in the industry
Your site needs a favicon.
rachkovsky··on Fighting Cancer
Watch 'Hungry for Change' on Netflix.
rachkovsky··on Writing Less Code
This is the only web site I had to make font size smaller to read it comfortably.
rachkovsky··on How to listen when you disagree
The best on the topic is How To Disagree by Paul Graham http://paulgraham.com/disagree.html
rachkovsky··on Ask HN: What was your “why didn't I start doing this sooner” moment?
Listening to non fiction audio books. Since I've started half a year ago I have "read" over 16 books while commuting or exercising.
rachkovsky··on Tell HN: New features and a moderator
Great stuff! The only feature I need now is 'open links in a new window' option. Yes, I know that you can do Ctrl+click or click with the mouse wheel to achieve the same, but that is not the same!
rachkovsky··on Tell HN: New features and a moderator
Which bookmarking service do you use, just curious?
rachkovsky··on I switched to Android after 7 years of iOS
How about in-app purchases? Wouldn't it be harder to implement low friction flow?
