Procore (NYSE: PCOR) builds the most widely used construction management platform in the world. Our software connects every stakeholder on a construction project — from owners to general contractors to specialty contractors — and we're used on projects worth hundreds of billions of dollars annually.
We're hiring across the engineering org in Austin, TX at all levels:
*Individual Contributors:* - Principal Software Engineer - Staff Software Engineer (Streaming Data Infrastructure) - Senior Software Engineer (Frontend) - Senior DevOps Engineer (Mobile Platform) - Security Engineers (multiple levels)
*Management:* - Software Engineering Manager (Custom Fields) - Software Engineering Manager - Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Engineering Manager (Datagrid)
Our core platform is a large-scale Ruby on Rails monolith serving thousands of concurrent users on active construction projects. If you enjoy the challenge of performance, scalability, and developer experience at scale in Rails — this is the place. We also work extensively with React, TypeScript, and Node.js on the frontend and in supporting services.
Tech you'll work with: Ruby on Rails, React, TypeScript, Node.js, Kafka (streaming data infrastructure), and modern observability tooling.
Comp is competitive — IC principal roles range $198K–$273K base + equity. Engineering management roles start around $169K base + equity.
Austin office is downtown at 221 W 6th Street.

I expect the market to reconcile the difference now that EVs subsidizes are ending.
Another possible alternative is that the consumer has to be educated that buying used EVs is not like buying a used cellphone, and that EV batteries do last 10+ years.
Framework isn't the top choice for business.
They build layers and layers of code to "isolate" rails and end up with big ball of mud. Once you do that you have to keep wrapping and adapting, and commanding, and querying and it takes a gang of more than 4 developers to maintain a feature set that could be done with 1 good rails dev.
Code is liability. Features are the asset. Well written rails has one of the best bang for the buck for lines of code per feature.
One of the best features is to streamline the online ordering from the app.
It works very well.
Paradoxically, efficiency generates more available work, not less.
The amount of work to be done is not finite.
I actually would love to hear more about the journey you briefly touched on the description. Like how you learned to code, what tech stack you choose, what was hard, what resources helped you, etc And what you would do the same and different if you had to do it again.
<Lots of opinions from here on:>
Lots of features were nicer, but search is my most used feature.
From all the other possibilities, this seem the one that I am more inclined to successfully transition to.
I really liked sublime when I switched, but now it feels stuck in the past.
I am waiting for the right time to try again. If you are using and liking it, I would like to know what are the features you most like.
Reach out to rafael.floresta@procore.com and I can help you.
We are really looking for folks with strong Ruby/Rails experience. We have one of the largest rails codebase in the world.
We are also hiring on several other areas (Kafka, mobile, react, etc).
Feel free to DM me or ask questions here about my experience working here.

I did check your comments and you seem to have a negative spin on most of your comments.
Maybe their tone is not compatible to yours. But gross and delusional seem wrong considering what they have accomplished so far.
Their work is inspiring and deserves the praise and positivity.
A trait of a good manager is allow different people to be effective in the collaboration of writing software together.
The article paints an unreal rosy picture where "everything runs smoothly and has forward momentum".
Working with a live system is messy. There is always compromise because there is never enough time to keep everything smooth.
It is very common to be stuck at some problem. That moment you let a problem clunk around your brain and you randomly think of a solution in the shower or at the grocery store is way too common. And honestly fun.
I could log what I say, and give me ongoing feedback on my dictation.
When I read prompts I am being more deliberate about my speech, and my results will be better than they actually should be.
This, combined with a spoken grammar feedback, would be meaningful to help non native speakers to improve their English.
Also the random phrase generator always generate the same phrase.
