We never had Carrier locked phones. This seems to be a US only problem.

Yes, and I can attest they treated me well.

Buy a CD burner and make your own CDs! Much easier.

This is exactly what happened.

TIL the traditional Indian kalash is a bell beaker.

What is the average lifespan of a logitech gaming mouse? I bought 3 over the years and the average life span has been around 2 years.

Yeah it implies the chatbot at some point said you can unite with it after death. There's no evidence of that in the article.

Can't read on mobile. Why do these people still use hard line breaks?

Does not make sense. I think the chatbot is a red herring.

LOL. So you want everyone to become skillful in using weasel words? Spoken like a true weasel.

Why would anyone assume Hacker news titles are maximally interesting? In practice they often aren't. I am with the OP on this one.

Also 3.3 billion unique emails are strictly more interesting than just the addresses since an email includes adresseses and a subject line by definition.

How can this pass when NVIDIA failed to take over ARM?

41 deg C

Cargo is just half the story. The other half is rust itself. It is an excellent language for writing abstractions.

That's the problem with C. It cannot have a sane cargo like system. The language is not built for writing libraries. There is a reason why everyone keeps reinventing the wheel when it comes to datastructures in C. Where is STL for C?

+1 use the fusion reactor in the sky. We probably won't need one on earth afterall.

My effective rate of taxation is close to 40-50% here in India. I doubt I get one tenth the benefit. Rampant corruption, abysmal infrastructure, no rule of law...I could go on.

Technically it is a triode but that word would be misleading here since this device is more like a diode with a MOSFET like insulated gate.

Off topic: why is Aristotle held in such high regard? Isn't he the person who got almost everything wrong?

Okay, so I was wrong. You can get multiple harmonics if you use a long enough chain of inverters. I will simplify the paper mentioned in a sibling comment. In a long chain at any given point of time certain (variable number of) pairs of inverters drop in and out of the circuit changing the total propagation delay, giving rise to multiple harmonics. You'll have to read the paper for details.

Interesting, would have loved to read the paper. Unfortunately I don't have an IEEE subscription right now.

First look up Barkhausen criteria, then read the following. For ring oscillators gain will be greater than unity for only those waves whose period matches the gate delay. Only one such wave exists since the gate delay is a fixed number.

>Could you have a few different-sized square waves continue to cycle through the circuit?

No.

I think American houses don't have a power switch per outlet like the rest of the world. The only way some (most?) devices can be turned off is by pulling the cord.

I know decorators can be used to auto-memoise function arguments but I've never heard of @lru_cache for python.

Why do we need this? What problem does it solve?

>> Kirei is a keyboard library that you feed inputs to (which keys are pressed) and get outputs from (HID reports) ... It's not just a keyboard firmware

This looks like a repeat of the nodejs leftpad situation but this time it's for keyboard firmware.

The pav is actually pronounced as pao sometimes.

How much electronics do Med school students have to learn about?

I sure hope so. But realistically AI will thin the devops herd much more rapidly than "proper" development teams. I already use an LLM to crank out my configs, shell scripts, analyse my logs etc. LLMs are a lot better at these things than full fledged development. I think I am now able to do in days what it would have taken me weeks. My employer does not need to hire as many devops people as it would have pre LLMs.

As you can see you don't need to give AI write access to your production environment.

Commiserations.
