Working on product and brand at the same time, I keep running into a tension I couldn't articulate until I read this Paul Graham line: "Branding by definition has to be distinctive. But good design, like math or science, seeks the right answer, and right answers tend to converge." Wrote up where I landed.

That’s well said. That’s precisely the problem we’re facing, but this time it’s not cooking skills, but thinking skills.

Why it matters since it does the job !

Sadly, most of the big names (Udemy, Coursera, ...) are using encrypted streaming with DRM, but there are Khan Academy, Harvard, MIT,... courses that you can download and use locally. But most people are downloading the courses from torrents illegally (I don't advise doing this).

That’s awesome! I’m a huge fan of projects like that. I recently launched ckourse.com (open-source) to help manage downloaded courses. Combining tolaria and Ckourse will give a smooth learning experience. Thanks for the tool.

Interesting point of view. Do you have any resources for such things, books, videos, etc., explaining those persuasion techniques you mentioned?

There’s some of this in https://book.stevejobsarchive.com/ There are also his videos and speeches, for example when explaining the magic behind computers, and the way he simplifies everything in a delightful way.

so you think KISS (keep it simple stupid) is the key in this case ?

Totally agree, but the question "Impeccable taste" is a skill or a gift.

Ofc it's salesmanship, but actually not anyone is able to chain ideas and talk the same way
