redanddead··on AMD expects to outsell Intel in Q4 for the first time in history
> That says more about Intel's shambolic efforts

I was going to say… everybody even government is coming together to make intel work but it’s in shambles

Haven’t they benefited a lot from the chips act?

A great opportunity for huawei

Nobody helps China like American corps helps China. Domestic anticompetitive behavior spurs demand for international competition

Trusts suck

They ruin innovation top down and bottom up at the same time

Human academia needs to clean up its ego fixation, jesus fucking christ

It'd be pathetic if the silicon does better science than us and our crabbucket mentality -- highly likely in my view...

redanddead··on BYD sold more EVs last month than the US did all quarter
i would love to spend >$100k on a great electric car, idk if they're quite there yet and the rocket boosters aren't doing it for me in the tesla line up lol

Still needs a step change upgrade on the battery tech

redanddead··on BYD sold more EVs last month than the US did all quarter
There's the scaling

No amount of fucking banning will work and the US is going to end up with egg on its face when the entire world is using chinese everything and the US is still trying to banhammer. The entire world has started shifting away from the US, not in a positive isolationist way -- in an uncompetitive, stagnating innovation way.

The only way out is through competition and this lesson will probably only be learned when its too late to do anything about it. Everybody saw this coming

Let's analyze the premises

1/ The internal users at labs and external users are completely different.

2/ The lab people use the models to create recursive systems, systems to create prompts or synthetic data sets etc etc etc. Way different mentality than "fix the bug, make no mistakes"

Is it really so farfetched to think they've been having models fuck with the weights of models? I think it's entirely possible, probably even likely as a way of generating permutations of synthetic datasets that will then be included or excluded

If you subscribe to this, then it would be entirely possible for this to have become a major part of post-training and be practically impossible to exclude from public facing models, which are famously hard to govern. The models barely know their own version numbers.

How is this such a big story on HN. It seems to me that this is just another engineering problem, not particularly surprising

redanddead··on Rising rates of colorectal cancer found in nearly all age groups
You and orangecat are using a false binary

That’s not how science works

Show me correlating graphs to the rise in colorectal cancer. There has to be a meta-analysis about this, my money is on food being a major contributing factor

redanddead··on Rising rates of colorectal cancer found in nearly all age groups
There’s a lack of fiber

There’s an overconsumption of sugar

Sugar is awesome for cancer

redanddead··on Rising rates of colorectal cancer found in nearly all age groups
It’s the food

This isn’t some mystery, this isn’t happening in a vacuum. There are correlated trends like rising profits of the food industry, food becoming plasticized. Everyone’s fat now
