It took me something harsh and physical event to realize how much I've not been myself. It prompted me to give up everything dear but unncessary and unproductive things for a short term as a punishment for myself.
It worked. It showed results (albeit in short-term) and then I started journalling reports about myself. Having a honest conversation of what works and what consequences I have of acting from impulsive thinking and drifting away from my real life goals.
This is 4th month since I made the pivot and so far things are definitely better. I think its mainly a battle between your brain's system 1 and system 2. You gotto do things that system 2 has thought and planned out. Because system 1 can be irrational and get us into doing things that only have short term benefit.

I wonder what parts of world are still going through the pandemic. Without citations, some of the facts in article come up as alarmists.

This is only partially true.
India has factories that provide inter-mediate parts required for creating final product. For example, a car needs axles, engine, dashboard plastics, alloy for body, brakes and electronics. You are more likely to find an Indian name in top-10 vendors for above parts sorted by marketshare. With the exception of engine, transmission, they have expanded.
What it does lack is tack of exporting finished products such as iPhone or smartphone or cars or jets. And I think this will be a long process. Someone with deep pockets like Apple is willing to bet and here we are.
I am not accusing or calling that there is corruption between politicians and builders. But one of the criterion that Turkey is measuring for its inclusion in EU is corruption. It would be interesting to see impact of this on corruption scores in EU progress report. It has already been noted that there is no progress in fight against corruption [^a]

Back in my home town in India, tons of my relatives have built huge multi-storey buildings all the while ignoring the city code about spacing between adjacent buildings or distance of structure from main road.
That's not to say that everyone ends up kicking the rules, but the number of people who have done that in past 20+years makes me wonder how is it that easy to not follow municipal building code.
Hope, that it doesn't take a natural calamity for people to realize the importance of code and the local civil enforcement starts using its power!
Interesting read nonetheless.
Reading through the article, it seems the domain name is not publicly exposed and a new domain (?) is created on-the-fly? I am not sure if I understand how it works. But every user who logs in with a inter-mediator would get his own domain and that's their strategy to keep shop open for now.
Just curious: Is Civ something very popular at FB or something? I know Zuck himself plays Civ [0].

Such kinds of problems will only scale up as we apply L5 cars take on more public roads, but I wonder how long or what changes will have to be done in current road signs, critical city infra to support them.
On recent vacation, while we were trying doing street shopping, I came across Lewis-Clark map [original size] and then I thought I might as well use maps as wall art. I ended up buying following two classic replicas.

Over several years, my image as a good friend has tarnished since I didn't keep my side of bargain in enforcing good relationships. With older age, it's bit harder to make new friends. The least I can do is, reinforce older ones.
a. With cheap money, placing and chasing risky bets was risk almost-free. Although, this has been the case for past 4years, 2021/2022 was where it eclipsed new highs. b. Wag-wars: In 2020, 2021, 2022, in SV, I have seen people getting insane offers. Sometimes accompanied by multiple expansion of stock (TSLA, NVDA). This eventually meant that if you don't pay top-dollar, someone else will and you will have to keep hiring belt burning. [presume that prospective employer finds you worthy enough]
I also find hard to believe that decision makers believed that pace of growth/expansion in 2020, 2021 was sustainable. There were signs that it isn't and cheap money kept flowing. Some would also criticize the stimulus checks but in my view, it helped folks who needed it the most but it also went on to chase risky or unproductive things like NFT etc.

Why do companies always try to sugarcoat things? Its analogous to doctor gives us bad news but shows us the silver-lining. I guess these are more of the PR side of things.
This is not always true. Do you have citation to back this up?
