remify··on AWS Lambda Web Functions
direct connection can be problematic if you dont limit the scaling or don't use rds proxy yes.

The 3 lambda instances aren't going to break your db

remify··on AWS Lambda Web Functions
It's just more effort then I want to or need to.

Just a lambda, a switch in the handler that calls my routes and that's it. I could make it smarter but I don't really need to

remify··on AWS Lambda Web Functions
I've built 2 applications using Lambdas as a backend and I love how simple and it is. It cost literally 0$ (the lambda part).

The frontend is hosted on cloudfront, the backend is a lambda and you basically just pay for the database and certificate.

I don't want to manage a server or even a docker image. I just want my code to exist there so I like the idea

remify··on Taste Is All That's Left
Copying means you have a valid target.

I'd argue that a well thought UX isn't easy to copy in the first place because it's not something that can easily be put into word.

It's the same for a lot of things, I have some clothes that I love because of their, design, quality and more ... something intangible that I have hard time describing and that can easily be explained with: It was done with taste.

remify··on AI migrated legacy COBOL programs to Java, bugs included
If you can migrate using a strangle pattern, I can see it working pretty well and fast.

Now only big tech companies can train models

remify··on Show HN: Red Squares – GitHub outages as contributions
They should deploy on sundays !
remify··on Lessons for Agentic Coding: What should we do when code is cheap?
Code might be cheaper but it's still a liability. In that regard anything that's not been properly designed and documented is going to be an even bigger issue.
remify··on HERMES.md in commit messages causes requests to route to extra usage billing
Apparently 200B isn't enough for proper support. Nice to know
remify··on New gas-powered data centers could emit more greenhouse gases than whole nations

remify··on ChatGPT Images 2.0
My vision for a new internet is a space where we can guarantee something is coming from an human and is genuine. The second point is that we get paid for feeding our AI overlords
remify··on Neanderthals survived on a knife's edge for 350k years
Yes
remify··on Neanderthals survived on a knife's edge for 350k years
There's new evidences that even Sapiens "introduction" in Europe happend multiple times in the scale of thousand years with migratory waves comming from Africa/Middle East.

There's a 12h Collège de France course from Jean-Jacques Hublin that display new understandings that is really captivating. It's in French though

remify··on Meta Horizon Worlds on Meta Quest is being discontinued
The product is a platform Meta control free of Windows, Google or Apple.

That's what meta(verse) was suppose to build.

remify··on How I use Claude Code: Separation of planning and execution
Sub agent also helps a lot in that regard. Have an agent do the planning, have an implementation agent do the code and have another one do the review. Clear responsabilities helps a lot.

There also blue team / red team that works.

The idea is always the same: help LLM to reason properly with less and more clear instructions.

remify··on We mourn our craft
It's funnily enough quite the opposite front ends that have a focus on UX are pretty well protected from generative AI
remify··on Agent Skills
Thanks for the input I was planning to do something like that with a CLI though
remify··on AGENTS.md outperforms skills in our agent evals
That's the thing that bothers me here. They loaded the doc of course it will work but as your project grows you won't be able to put all your documentation in there (at least with current context handling).

Skills are still very much relevant on big and diverse projects.

remify··on Show HN: Turn raw HTML into production-ready images for free
At work we are using this feature. A lot of time we need to do some kind of pdf reporting. We built them as html pages and print them as pdf.

Works fine.

remify··on Why we migrated from Python to Node.js
ORMs are mostly useless they make easy queries easier et hard query a lot harder.
remify··on Trump pardons convicted Binance founder
It is and you'll not doing much against it

Poker is "solved" for low level and high volume which is what a bot would be good at.

remify··on Ask HN: Why hasn't x86 caught up with Apple M series?
I've got an AMD Ryzen 9 365 processor on my new laptop and I really like it. Huge autonomy and good performance when needed, it's comparable to the M3 version (not the Max).
remify··on AI must RTFM: Why tech writers are becoming context curators
LLMs fall short on most edge cases

The EU don't act fast. It act slow and steady, it's not perfect but it sure is better then whatever is happnening the other side of the Atlantic.
remify··on How we made JSON.stringify more than twice as fast
March 2022 is not that long ago for a codebase. It takes time but Javascript has come a long way and it's definitely going in the right direction.
remify··on Ask HN: Why is Gmail so incompetent at basic search?
I've found Gmail search to be suprisingly good. It can parse pdf attachments from years ago and match it with the search.

It's miles ahead of Outlook from my point of view.

remify··on Datadog's $65M/year customer mystery solved
It's honestly easy to use and implements. It's a try it and adopt it product, it's even one of their sales tactics.
