renecito··on Bug: Border radius has infected VSCode editor
this bug report looks like a teen complaining?

I'd definitely love to see all Apps using the current native look and feel.

But what is the ask here? straight sharp corners on everything ?

renecito··on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
sell another phone with "more than iPhone" and claim is better because "more X" right ?
renecito··on Anthropic's ‘watermark’ text adulteration in Claude is a perversion of writing
They just want to prevent their own slop being fed back into their AIs.

I think this would be a good guard on websites to use it as another content protection layer.

renecito··on I’ve joined Anthropic
rest & vest if he makes it to IPO
renecito··on GPT-5.5
why the stats of every AI on every release looks around the same?

Are the tests getting harder and harder so the older AIs look worst and the new ones look like they are "almost there" ?

but you don't want the go to send your documents to someone in Nigeria
renecito··on US private credit defaults hit record 9.2% in 2025, Fitch says
Ok, I think I now got where all the AI money was coming from.
renecito··on Reversing memory loss via gut-brain communication

renecito··on Osaka: Kansai Airport proud to have never lost single piece of luggage (2024)
it't not lost until you stop looking for it :D
renecito··on FreeBSD doesn't have Wi-Fi driver for my old MacBook, so AI built one for me
It used an existing implementation, in theory this was mostly a porting task.

GPL-wise, I don't know how much is inspiration vs "based on" would this be, it'd be interesting to compare.

This looks like my Company peers, as long as there is any existing implementation they are pretty confident they can deliver, poor suckers that do the "no one has done it before" first pass don't get any recognition.

renecito··on Reading the undocumented MEMS accelerometer on Apple Silicon MacBooks via iokit
"hidden", checks API: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/coremotion/cmdevic...

and there is Mac Catalyst (iOS on Mac) and Mac support.

what am I missing ? that this uses a raw stream ?

renecito··on Opus 4.5 is not the normal AI agent experience that I have had thus far
I'd guess some people likes to read ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
renecito··on Web development is fun again
so is it fun because you had fallen behind and now you think you can fit with the people with more experience?

well, I have news for you, the people with experience are also using AI too and they can still produce better and more than you do.

renecito··on Google cracked Apple's AirDrop and is adding it to Pixel phones
hacked? LOL! Apple and Google had worked before together, remember Covid contact alerts?
renecito··on Meta Cutting 600 AI Jobs to move faster
less people but downsizing deliverables? yes

Hopefully the ones you let go are not impacting the pool of actual required skills and knowledge.

renecito··on Show HN: Open-sourcing our text-to-CAD app
do you have examples or any getting started guide to know what can I expect ?
renecito··on What If OpenDocument Used SQLite?
LOL!
renecito··on We should have the ability to run any code we want on hardware we own
Personally, I'm not demanding to enable tinkering on everything if that's raising prices, it could be as simple as having some "This unit is serviceable" label, I'd let people to value it and manufacturers to follow it.

TBH, I think most people wouldn't care, specially in USA, it is way easier and cheaper to replace than to repair, workmanship is really expensive here.

But If a manufacturer shuts down a Cloud service that bricks my device they should open the interfaces and protocols to make them functional.

renecito··on Mark Zuckerberg freezes AI hiring amid bubble fears
Mission accomplished: who'd tell disrupting your competition poaching their talent and erasing value (giving it away for free) would make people realize there is no long term value in the core technology itself.

Don't get me wrong, we are moving to commoditization, as any new tech it'd be transparent to our lifestyle and a lot of money will be done as an industry, but it'd be hard to compete as a core business competence w/o cheating (and by cheating I mean your FANG company already has a competitive advantage)

renecito··on Lithium compound can reverse Alzheimer’s in mice: study
yup, because this could not be a scam.

You are free to try it, it's over the counter, no one is oppressing you here, Darwin is your friend.

renecito··on More assorted notes on Liquid Glass
Same sht over and over again.

Apple keeps good or great things as their are: Apple is loosing its edge look how other are so innovative.

Apple takes some risk and go bold on things: Why changing things?

At the end everyone else complaining would just follow and copy.

Rinse and repeat, bring the eyeballs and the money to my btching site or profile.

renecito··on Revisiting Knuth's “Premature Optimization” Paper
too late, all the slackers got promoted and now are demanding to keep pushing features no one is asking about.
renecito··on I wrote to the address in the GPLv2 license notice (2022)
is the owner of the address a perpetual owner of the GPL? Example: - Step 1: Create evil Corporation - Step 2: Buy that address - Step 3: Create a new GPL, still GPL but technically a new version. This can make sure the sole owner of the claimed IP (remove the FSF of course). - Step 4: Sell your updated license to anyone that'd want to go around previous GPL.
renecito··on Sapphire: Rust based package manager for macOS
so cool!, but can you invert a binary tree? /s
renecito··on Cross-Platform P2P Wi-Fi: How the EU Killed AWDL
Good bye free market.

If a "new industry thing" is far superior and what customers want, why other vendors don't do it?

Now, if government sees a benefit in driving and sharing technology I'd be happy the government would actively participate in R&D.

renecito··on Global population datasets systematically underrepresent rural population
"systematically", dude, it costs money, it might not be safe.

There are some rural places in the Mountains in places not so far from America where they harass and rape teachers, doctors or any government service employees.

The national census always struggles how to safely and practically reach those places.

renecito··on Gemini Robotics
Get concerned when you see a real product in the market that has a sustainable business model.

The man behind the curtain here has an army of engineers, unlimited cloud nodes and basically has harvested all the data currently available in the world.

It doesn't get any better than this right now.

What's next? They'll ping you later on Linked-in with this awesome idea that you need to make sure runs in a $1 USD microcontroller with a rechargeable battery that is supposed to last at least all day.

The actual scary stuff is the dilution of expertise, we contributed for a long time to share our knowledge for internet points (stack overflow, open source projects, etc), and it has been harvested by the AIs already, anyone that pays access to these services for tens of dollars a month can bootstrap really quickly and do what it might had needed years of expertise before.

It will dilute little by little our current service value, but you know what, it has always been like this forever, it is just faster.

In the meantime, learn to automate the automator, that's the way to get ahead.

renecito··on Common mistakes in architecture diagrams (2020)
well, how dare to show a mistake without the actual good thing to do? :D
renecito··on U.K. orders Apple to let it spy on users' encrypted accounts
