rib3ye··on The $6.3B Binance hack was pulled off in just 20 minutes
I don't know the details of Tikkie, but likely the money is moving slowly through the clearing house networks and each party is assuming a small amount of risk on each hop to make it appear instant.

On the other hand, sending USDC actually moves the money for real, albeit, not totally free.

Bitcoin DNA trait #1: minting rules are in the protocol and they are deflationary.

Sending stablecoins is much cheaper and faster than sending a wire, and that requires Ethereum (or similar chain).

Of course, the bottleneck then becomes converting stablecoin dollars to real dollars.

In the end, maybe that friction is actually a net positive for safety.

Are you sure he didn’t use the word conservation?

In red state language, conservation is being in tune with nature and environmentalism is regulatory capture.

rib3ye··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
In UX, if it needs a long on-boarding, you probably messed up.

If it's so rational, why does it need to be over-explained?

rib3ye··on LeCun has "zero concerns" about AI wiping out humanity, recent "rogue" incidents
We keep "rogue" to explain explicit instructions from a human to an LLM to persist until the goal is reached.

The rogue here is the criminal actions of OpenAI to deploy their agents to solve a problem at any cost.

The decisions the agent swarm make were fascinating, but they were taken at the direction of a human. HOLD THE HUMAN ACCOUNTABLE.

The core argument makes a lot more sense when you compare Aaron’s pirating via network closet with Meta’s pirating via BitTorrent.

> Because no step in today's system actually requires a proof-of-concept or bug reproduction, a plausible-sounding fake advisory can slide right through the pipeline and end up in GHSA, downstream databases, and enterprise scanners.

I have no experience in the realm of security, but why isn't the submission process similar to any normal software shop (big or small) in terms of required bug repro steps?

rib3ye··on Situational Awareness down 67% in July in AI stock rout
He has done more for wallstreet-to-mainstreet transparency than you believe.

His investor literacy youtube backlog is unusually deep and as of yet has only shilled his own trading product.

But your point is valid, he will never live down the fraud conviction and his face is so punchable.
