ro-ka··on Show HN: I built a little browser game to practice Vim commands
I felt the same and never got into vim. What clicked for me however is helix and I love it. Brings everything out of the box and the mental model fits me better (select, then action).

ro-ka··on EPA bans asbestos, a deadly carcinogen still in use decades after partial ban
My parents house (in the EU) was covered in plates of asbestos. As far as I know it only is dangerous when you install / remove it as these plates break and release chemicals to the air. I’m no expert though.
ro-ka··on Firefox got faster for real users in 2023
As older Firefox versions are still in use, too, it’s possible to check whether the improvements come from updates in Firefox itself or the web in general.
ro-ka··on Ask HN: How do I make a website in 2023?
I can recommend Kirby (https://getkirby.com/), a flat file PHP CMS. It’s fast, has a panel to update data and can be hosted on any basically any PHP host. Just use the quite simple PHP-templates and add CSS & JS like you already know how to do. No need to complicate things.
ro-ka··on This is the year of the RSS reader?
With Feedbin (which I use, guess others work similar), pasting the website URL is enough. It’ll scan for feeds and that’s it.
ro-ka··on Elementary OS is imploding
I never looked in the source code, but had the same feeling about the founders back then.
ro-ka··on Ask HN: Favorite purchases of last two years?
Same for me. :D
ro-ka··on Ask HN: Best way to donate my dev skills?
I’m sure there are. Just ask around at organizations that look interesting to you.

In my city there was a ferry for NGOs some time ago so anyone could find an engagement they enjoy.

ro-ka··on Moving away from Gmail. Which service to choose?
I also recommend Fastmail. No complaints. UI is great.
ro-ka··on Gifalicious - Delicious for animated gifs
Not yet.

After login you see your collection of animated gifs and can add new ones via URL. Also there is a "detail view" of the gifs. Simple.
