robjampar··on GraphQL MCP Server and GraphiQL Plugins
I've created a Python library that will map a Python GraphQL app OR any GraphQL HTTP Endpoint and create an MCP server - it maps each GraphQL query and mutation into read/write MCP tools.

I also created a series of GraphiQL plugins that come bundled with GraphiQL.

Thought I'd re-share as I've also just now added a hosted free-to-use deployment of GraphQL-MCP at https://bridge.graphql-mcp.com/ for anyone to play with.

You can see an example of a bridge working against a public graphql api here https://bridge.graphql-mcp.com/mcp/aHR0cHM6Ly9jb3VudHJpZXMud...

robjampar··on I built an app called Homecast to enhance HomeKit Apple Home setups
Thanks, Homecast is specifically for people who already use the Apple Home app but want to access their setup outside of the Apple ecosystem.

For example, say you have an Apple HomeKit-based smart home setup, but someone in your house has an Android device, Homecast will enable the Android user to access the devices still.

robjampar··on I built an app called Homecast to enhance HomeKit Apple Home setups
Hey everyone,

I’ve been building an app called Homecast that lets you do more with your HomeKit setup — like access your HomeKit devices from Android or connect ChatGPT or Claude to your devices, you can check out some of the features on the website.

Right now everything is ready to be released, but signups are limited, and I’m mainly looking for general feedback, so there’s a waitlist in place. But if anyone wants to help test some of the features before the release, let me know, and I’d be happy to activate your account.

You can check out the website here:

https://homecast.cloud/

or drop me an email (rob@homecast.cloud) if you're interested in testing Homecast :)

robjampar··on Box of Secrets: Discreetly modding an apartment intercom to work with Apple Home
I have a similar Apple HomeKit integration to my apartment door system in a much simpler way;

When you buzz the apartment from the intercom it connects to a dedicated landline phone, That landline is setup to automatically go straight to voicemail, and then the voicemail message is just a recording of the tone required to open the door.

Then I have a smart power socket that the landline phone gets its power from - which I can toggle in the home app.

So if you turn on the power socket and dial the apartment code at the entrance, it buzzes you straight in. Or turn the power socket off and it doesn't.

robjampar··on UK air traffic control outage caused by bad data in flight plan
"reject just one flight plan, and allow the rest to proceed."

rejecting a plan wouldn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist/take off anymore, so that doesn't sound sensible

robjampar··on GraphQL Authentication
Authentication with GraphQL can be done in loads of different ways. I've created an example of one way that I like.

If anyone is interested, I have used my own GraphQL Server library for Python. This meant the entire implementation is less than 500 lines. You can check it out here:

I also have made a few other GraphQL examples which you can check out here:

robjampar··on Show HN: GraphQL Examples in Python and ObjectQL: I've Open Sourced My Web Stack
I've been working on GraphQL APIs for a long time. I was never satisfied with the Python GraphQL web stack, so in my spare time I built a new set of libraries that will let anyone put together a GraphQL API in minutes using Python.

The stack is made up of two main libraries:

* ObjectQL (http://objectql.com/) An object Mapper from Python to GraphQL.

* DataRM (https://gitlab.com/kiwi-ninja/datarm) A thin layer on top of SQLAlchemy that simplifies schema definition by using typehints.

The HN submission links to load of open source examples to see how everything fits together.

I've decided to open source the libraries so anyone can use them - https://gitlab.com/kiwi-ninja and they are all available on PyPi.

Enjoy, I'm interested to hear what people think about the design!

robjampar··on Show HN: Type-Checker – Type Check Python Values and Complex Data Structures
Have you seen/are you using type hinting (available in python 3.5+) Most IDEs have support for type hinting.

robjampar··on Show HN: Type-Checker – Type Check Python Values and Complex Data Structures
Published this today, it's the first Python package that I have released.

Could be useful for type checking Python Values that come from decoded JSON requests (for example web API request format validation)

robjampar··on Ask HN: Do you make your own PCBs? If so, how?
I always found the best combination was a photo resist method, with a small CNC machine for drilling and routing the PCB.

precision and accuracy is all about alignment, so i built alignment guides into all my printouts.

I uploaded some photos of a one + the alignment guides I used, i even did nickel plating and a silkscreen on this one...

heres a short video of the CNC drilling machine too, it was homemade

used to take maybe 1-2 hours start to finish to manufacture a full PCB

robjampar··on Writing a SQLite clone from scratch in C
I started to write something a bit like this a while ago for SQLite and C++, https://github.com/Gloopio/SQLighter we also have a more complete/full featured version that we use internally, although I was not sure if there are enough people that would want it - for it to be turned into an open source project.
