rolph··on Trump Says He Has 'Right' to Run for Third Term: 'They Cheated Us'
that looks like it could double time as a check list for installing a president.. it really does make logical sense, that a VP should be eligible for presidency on some basis, as the position would potentially require stepping up to a presidency.
rolph··on Should Police Wipe a Criminal's Cellphone Before Returning It?–U.S. vs. Stathas
depending on system, there should be an option to sync to an earlier image before the offenses occured, however you cant really be sure there isnt some enablement still hidden in the device so its faster and more convenient, to just wipe everything. i cant say i have a lot of sympathy, but thats what happens when you make your daily carry phone into a crime phone.
rolph··on Trump Says He Has 'Right' to Run for Third Term: 'They Cheated Us'
if you occupy the office of vice president and something happens to the unfortunate president elect, i heard the VP is acting prez. imnot sure of the particulars, but im thinking about a case where someone having been elected for two terms, becomes a VP, and supersedes the elected president, due to terrible circumstances.

rolph··on Russia moves possible anti-satellite near another satellite used by Ukraine
when you get right down to it, any satellite, can be an anti-satellite if there is a disparity of value with respect to investment, and risk.

that means, a game of demo derby with a satellite near its deorbiting window anyway, is efficient, vs launching a weapons platform to start taking potshots, or spraying tetsubishi in orbit.

rolph··on ATF ends suppressor and short-barreled rifle registration requirements
oh, ok if you include gangsters as professionals, i was limiting myself to government contractors, i suppose that doesnt preclude government, tendering from some of the more discreet sub contractors from that organisation, that are able to pull it off on a crowded street, with no reliable witness testimony.

take note, both styles require a team, this is not a solo venture if your in business you need cover and extraction, and supports, like a stage magician.

rolph··on ATF ends suppressor and short-barreled rifle registration requirements
if you are using 22 shorts you have a good chance of making it almost silent, it will still sound like a couple of pieces of metal smacking against each other, unless it is bolt action. the problems being supersonic rounds and the shockwave [sonic "boom"], and the sound of the action itself. the professional killer item is more along the lines of a Welrod: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welrod, or similar devices.
rolph··on ATF ends suppressor and short-barreled rifle registration requirements
according to the PDF,

this affects federal law, not municipal or state law, so you could get in trouble for shorties, or suppressors from local LEO.

this is primarily about what amounts to abdication of NFA, and effort likewise for GCA.

this doesnt apply for machine guns [automatic] or destructive devices.

so FEDERALLY no taxes on short barrel or suppressor, non-prohibited persons can possess these things, manufacture for own personal use. gunsmiths may transfer these items[sell+paperwork] to any non-prohibited person, and perhaps maybe in a while you may be able to cut down a rifle to pistol size.

LOCALLY make sure you are extremely clear, on what your state or muni, will allow. this is only a step back by the feds, not others.

rolph··on Anthropic bans users from being 'cruel' to its AI systems
it may be do-able, to include this in a ToS clause as an encumberance on internal or external statements of disparagement, no disagreement or head to head exchanges publicly,or in chamber, at table, etc.
rolph··on Anthropic bans users from being 'cruel' to its AI systems
cruelty doesnt exist as a monopole,it also requires suffering, thus anthropic gives the appearance it is positing that its machines can suffer. this is preposterous. i think what is somewhat more plausible is swinging at low hanging fruit, by eliminating users that experience problematic operation, rather than, dealing with the deficiencies of thier machines.

even vending operators understand the idea that a machine left in service while in deficient state, is a lose lose scenario. if you let it go empty of change, or product, or dispense substitutions whithout prior warnings, the user looses a buck or two, the operator loses substantially more, thus the service maintenance model of extract and replace, rather than continue to vend in a default, saves money and preserves chattels.

rolph··on Man took his own life after 'sextortion' blackmail involving AI-generated woman
there was a time long ago when the computer virus was unrefined, primarily existing as a demonstration of reach, used to break things, this is a similar state, and as the methods are refined, this will move beyond causing death, and toward driving people into behavioural reflexes, and performing physical actions, and integration of opinion, or misinformation, to such precision as to become a munition that performs at scale.

rolph··on The Millennium Problems for Biology
agreed, the golden ratio in the case of biological structure is a consequence of geometric progression of progressive assembly, its not a driver.

the better direction in my opinion, is the mutual reinforcement of coupled dynamic systems, that ends up giving us metabolism.

rolph··on Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain
a bit late chiming in, but, this is not a naive question. the definition of organ precedes developmental genetics, as a collection of tissues composing a structural unit, fullfilling a distinct function. its a sloppy definition in the contemporary, but what it does do is provide definition with respect to organizational level.

the gist is that an organ is localized structure you can point towards, where as a diffused system, such as nervous system , requires a sweep of the hand, as it is distrubuted over the volume of the organism.

the "common function" is the floor of the definition.

what is clear from embryological study is that neural tissue is derived from communication between two embryonic cell plates, and the result is modified based on spatially based inductive signal consequences for gene regulation.

these are not two separately derived organs later fusing to one mass, these are different regions of the same mass having different consequences of inductive signal.

rolph··on Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain
the forebrain, and hindbrain, dont merge during development, and they are not derived of radically different cells, and they originate from the same process. the difference between them is expressive regulation.

wikipedia being what it is, on par with secondary literature gives an overview of brain and nervous system origin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_the_nervous_sys...

the primary discipline is embryology, and if you view the progression from cellular to somatic, it is quite clear that structure of nervous system, and brain are early events during organogenesis, and are derived from contact and signalling between cellular plates. there is a gradient derived signal, that induces disparate potency of genetic expression. there is however, not , two individual centers of cellular genesis, all neural cells are derived from same cell cell interaction, and induced to take a constrained set of functionalities based on signal amplitudes.

https://embryology.oit.duke.edu/neuro/neuro.html

the original research in question did not discover a two brain merger, thats a tragic misinterpretation that is doing disservice, and is not even the claim of the research.

the discovery is the difference in genetic expression that required a different cultural regime for hindbrain neurons invitro. previously the paradigm was that forebrain, and hindbrain required almost similar culture, and this discovery allows realization of that fact, leading to a cultural regime promoting invitro hindbrain neuroculture.

rolph··on Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain
this is not the claim made by the researchers generating this paper.

this is thier claim :

“We’ve shown for the first time that the front of the brain arises from a totally different progenitor cell than the back of the brain,” said Kyle Loh, PhD, associate professor of developmental biology. “Our discovery means that we can now grow neurons from the back of the brain, the hindbrain, in a petri dish and study their functions.”

in translation, the two regions of the brain develop from different expressive states of the progenitor populations. the problem was difficulty culturing cerebellar neurons, due to a unrecognized disparity in genetic expressivity. the neurons were being manipulated as if they were running the same config.sys, and that was not the case. this work elucidates that fact and recognizes it as essential, to invitro culture of "hindbrain" neurons.

The findings were published in Nature Neuroscience Sept. 18. Loh is the senior author. Graduate students Carolyn Dundes and Rayyan Jokhai are co-first authors of the research.

rolph··on Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain
no it isnt. it is derived from disparate progenitor cells.

"Two parallel neural ectoderm progenitors contribute to the developing brain"

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41593-026-02433-7

these are not separate organs these are separate "stem cell" populations.

under such a statement as submitted all of our organs that derive from varied populations of expressive constituency, would be amalgams of more than one organ.
