Gotta give the AIs some new original material to learn from, eh?

Move to Game of Trees and the integrated gotwebd, move on, have a happy life.

Vote with your wallet. Fuck them.

You shouldn’t have to use LLMs to run your software.

Give it another 6-12 months until the big AI shops shut those capabilities down and running local ones becomes cost prohibitive.

rootnod3··on Security Disclosure
Ah, a vibe code shop?

Maybe it is in the fine-print of the user agreement.
rootnod3··on OpenBSD 8.0
MP support for VMM/VMD is huuuuge.

Specifically in this script https://github.com/openbsd/src/blob/master/distrib/miniroot/...

Just look for `fw_update`

> Yes, absolutely. But denying their obvious capabilities is not a very effective way to do that.

> I don't see much thought-through analysis from the anti-AI crowd. That seems to have a lot to do with the fact that they're not actually very familiar with the technology, from either a practical or theoretical perspective.

So you imply that anyone anti-AI is not actually familiar with the technology? So only a true Scotsman is able to appreciate the beauty of AI?

> the machines that are smarter than they are

Depends on your definition of smart.

> Also, point of order: "The satire was apparently lost on you" makes no sense, since I wrote the comment and it wasn't intended as satire.

I'll just let that stand for itself and encourage you to read the thread again if it's not beyond your context window.

Yes. The firmware blobs get downloaded at the end of the install via `fw_update`.
rootnod3··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
Just be sure you understand the code 100% before sending it.
rootnod3··on Wine ported to OpenBSD
The port itself doesn't mirror the wine code. It is just the recipe on how to build in on OpenBSD + necessary patches.
rootnod3··on I built a programming language that LLMs can't use
The satire was apparently lost on you.

And claiming that it is the "most amazing technology humans have ever invented" is telling. Also claiming that a contrarian opinion is immediately rooted in tribal fear and ignorance. Ever bothered to stop and think that there might be good reasons to reject LLMs as a technology the way it is currently being used or is YOUR view of that maybe wilful ignorance and fueled by tribal fear?

But the response you gave was just perfectly playing exactly into the point the parent comment was making.

rootnod3··on I built a programming language that LLMs can't use
This reply is so perfect, I would almost think it's satire.
rootnod3··on Show HN: Sphinx – A hook that quizzes you on your AI's code before shipping
Code by hand? The good old fashioned way? Might be "less efficient", but you will understand what you did and build experience.
rootnod3··on Codex CLI installs a persistent, self-updating background daemon by default
Unless I rebuild my ports, Firefox does fuck all to my system. If it ever did, I would nuke it immediately.
rootnod3··on Codex CLI installs a persistent, self-updating background daemon by default
Slop coded CLI(!) via NPM(!)...I think that answers itself.
rootnod3··on Cloudflare acquires Deno
All of this just re-informed my believe to stay with true and tested systems that have survived decades. C if I fell confident and Common Lisp otherwise. Both standardized, have been around for ages, and they don’t disappoint.

I feel bad for anyone that now relies on Deno. And as good as Cloudflare might be for some things, I also feel bad for anyone relying on them.

I don't see it print the "here" line in their example.

I for one already have the popcorn at the ready. Can't wait for it.
rootnod3··on Why Common Lisp is now the best programming language
You continue from where the exception lands, but not from the origin of the expection. The .NET runtime for example does termination handling and it's in the spec if I remember correctly. Common Lisp has a resumption model.

The leave instruction is required to exit a try, catch, or a filter block. At least last time I read the spec (which is a while ago, but still).

See https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23844283 for examples on CL.

rootnod3··on Why Common Lisp is now the best programming language
I think what is referred to here is that an exception doesn't unwind the stack. Even if the exception is uncaught, you can fix the line or value and then resume where the stack was.

rootnod3··on AI Can Make You Suck Faster Too
Right. Better throw money at 5 different ones and then people come and tell you that you just need MORE agents and throw MORE money at it or you're not doing it right.

If you run it as a server mostly, I think the home partition at least can be shrunk to like 2GB or something.
