roundabout-host··on Getting ready to operate GNU Taler in Germany
By that logic we can close Serbian schools in Romania.
roundabout-host··on Getting ready to operate GNU Taler in Germany
Wero has the problem that it depends on Android or iOS.
roundabout-host··on No more icons in every menu by default
Not putting all the icons in a circle also gave more space to the actual icon. And the Android 5-6 icons were indeed beautiful.
roundabout-host··on No more icons in every menu by default
I prefer what GTK does, leaving a margin on every menu, so that menus with icons or checkboxes do not look inconsistent with the ones with them.
roundabout-host··on Italy proposes no fees for digital euro payments under €10
Is it still exclusive to stupidphones if you want to pay online?
roundabout-host··on iPhone Duo
Interesting, but of no use as I can't replace its OS.
roundabout-host··on iPhone Duo
And liquid ass.
roundabout-host··on I changed my license
Not really, but you can't just distribute a changed version as if it were original. That's just as illegal as if it were ND.
roundabout-host··on I Changed My License
Doesn't CC BY require to say what you changed?
roundabout-host··on GPT-6 Astra
It also cannot do tasks it wasn't trained for. It can extend texts, read images and click on a desktop, but only because it's made for that.
roundabout-host··on Show HN: Wireshark in a TUI
Why is there this trent of vibe coded TUIs?
roundabout-host··on Pretendard – A system-UI alternative font for all cross-platform
Why not just use system-ui? What's with the irrational Inter love? Is it because it looks like the Macintosh font?
roundabout-host··on Mojo is now open source
Maybe it is not listed by the OSI, but it is 'open source' in practice, if the source is also in the public domain. The FSF's definition of free software makes more sense not only ideologically, but also because it does not try to be exhaustive.
roundabout-host··on Ask HN: Why are TUIs in trend?
I said TUI in the title, not CLI.
roundabout-host··on Ask HN: Why are TUIs in trend?
But why exactly are AI agents using the terminal? Can't they use accessibility tools to read GUIs?
roundabout-host··on Ask HN: How can you tell a site/app is vibe coded?
Often there is the Inter font. Corners are usually quite rounded, there are lots of gradients. Also, I sometimes see weird descriptions of what a particular UI element does, even though it's obvious. It's possible that the LLM is putting them as a comment to the operator.
roundabout-host··on (EU age verification) Alternative protocol idea that doesn't require specific OS
It is my post. Sorry for changing the title, but the context is needed and the original was too long.

The EU 'age verification' is currently on the way to require Android or iOS, which I find very wrong, so I have written a proposal in their repository.

roundabout-host··on Illinois just passed a law that puts Linux on the hook for age verification
Does it even ask for verification? If not, the problem with it is that it seems to require the OS provider (not the local installation) to store the age.
roundabout-host··on TUI for Tabaholics
I do not understand the general hype around TUIs. A well-designed GUI can have the same easy navigation, but with proportional fonts, better mouse support, better scrolling and so on.
roundabout-host··on LinkedIn Adds "Seems Like AI Slop" Button on Every Post
They even used the correct terminology, 'slop'. I would not support Linkedin, but this is a good thing. I wish more platforms had it.
roundabout-host··on Digital sovereignty is real in Europe. The UK? Not so much
Digital sovereignity is when we're forcing everyone to use Android or iOS in order to access online services? <https://github.com/eu-digital-identity-wallet/av-doc-technic...>
roundabout-host··on The kids with phones are alright
GNU/Linux, not just Linux.
roundabout-host··on Codeberg bans vibe coded projects
Non-generative AI is not slop.
roundabout-host··on French parliament backs social media ban for children under 15
I suppose that it will be implemented with that "app" which coerces everyone into having Android or iOS (AOSP won't work, it needs to be attested)?
roundabout-host··on European "age verification" "app" forcing everyone to use Android or iOS
I don't think that we should want some locked-down insolution forced upon everyone, European or not.
roundabout-host··on Orion Browser by Kagi
The browser itself is nonfree. I would not be surprised with it promoting more nonfree software.
roundabout-host··on Orion Browser by Kagi
I find it interesting that it uses GTK, something quite unusual for a proprietary app. In any case, I am not using it, because I don't want to use a nonfree WWW browser.
roundabout-host··on NextBSD
I don't know why I can't trust this type of slop website.
roundabout-host··on Claude Code uses Bun written in Rust now
I have a better idea: convert it to a prompt and commit the prompt to the repository. Then Mythos will be your compiler.
roundabout-host··on Show HN: A modern port of Linux to a ten-year-old QWERTY phone
Maybe the keyboard could be removable to satisfy those users as well.
