rpgbr··on Maybe I Hate Technology
Hehehe :)

You can block notifications prompts altogether in browser settings, also dismiss this (standard, non-intrusive) one from the blog.

rpgbr··on Apple and a hacker's future
Or he could make use of timely notifications from reminders app, like any normal person does.
rpgbr··on Blocking of unverified apps on Android starts in Brazil and other 3 countries
Remote attestation by whom? Google can't take actions on a non-Google Android phone.
rpgbr··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
Is there any iPhone Apple Intelligence-compatible with less than 64 GB?
rpgbr··on OpenAI still doesn't seem to have a handle on all of its rogue AI activity
Imagine if a smaller company or an individual had a piece of software that started breaking into all these companies and governments.

It's beyond me why OpenAI and Anthropic C-levels aren't criminally accountable and/or indicted for these acts of their AIs.

rpgbr··on Meta Blocks President Lula's Facebook Page, Campaign Ads 2 Weeks from Election
Are you aware that US laws don't apply in other countries?
rpgbr··on This app turns off the MacBook display when it connects to an external monitor
Yes, you're right. I use MacBook's keyboard and trackpad while it's connected to an external display. As a “one display only” guy, having two turned on is not ideal.
rpgbr··on Apple iPhone 18 Pro Camera test
All the Apple marketing sure does a heavy lifting, because even comparing with a 5+ years old iPhone camera, the new one isn't noticeably better. Take any 1" sensor proper camera and it's so, so much better than the iPhone's…
rpgbr··on With Apple Watch that's always listening, what's at stake is public perception
AFAIK, in the US it's fine (as in legal) if only one of the two people talking is aware that the conversation is being recorded. Which is different from what Siri AI does — it transcripts the audio, only. No idea how it this will be accepted as proof.
rpgbr··on Automattic's board forces CEO Matt Mullenweg into leave of absence
"Unfortunately" for whom? I'm pretty ok, even happy, with him out.
rpgbr··on Matt Mullenweg's Messages Went Missing Amid a Failed Backup and Two Lost Devices
I guess the issue isn't that his backups “failed”, but that Mullenweg allegedly deleted evidences and lost devices on purpose.
rpgbr··on Four awful new privacy-eroding features from Meta in a month
Except this isn't a “me” situation. I mean, I can (and did) stop using Meta platforms, but everyone around me is sticking to them, and sometimes I appear in a photo or something, not to mention the infamous shadow profiles that Meta keeps of people not in their databases.
rpgbr··on Muse Spark 1.1
That's what one does when its product and public perception is way behind competitors.
rpgbr··on Why does WhatsApp drain so much phone battery?
Opening the multitasking screen and swiping up the app force stops it, I guess.
rpgbr··on PeerTube is a free, decentralized and federated video platform
Yes, but you can federate selectively, as in choosing which other instances you want to. And, yes, federating turns you responsible for the content of the other instance (IMHO; not legal advice or even fact checked).
rpgbr··on PeerTube is a free, decentralized and federated video platform
The feds will go after the instance admin that is sharing pirate content.
rpgbr··on Zuckerberg's Increasingly Bizarre War on Whistleblowers
Just like in Justice, where every suspect always say they are to blame when they did commit a crime.

(It's a great book, Mark and co. are more awful people we thought they were.)

rpgbr··on Apple raises prices of MacBooks, iPads
Devs reading this, please start making your apps less memory hungry.

All the people running any computer appreciate.

rpgbr··on Apple raises prices of MacBooks, iPads
Ask every Windows 11 or Google consumer that doesn't give a damn for AI and, yet, has been almost forced to use Copilot and Gemini…
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
Why this post was flagged?
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
I wasn’t trying to convincing anyone anything. But that these glasses with cameras are pretty popular among pervs is a fact.
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
No, it wouldn’t.
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
Blog owner here. The notification prompt uses standard browser support for this. I know many people don’t like, but there are some that appreciate getting updates this way.

FYI, every major browser has a global switch to disable notification prompts like my blog did. It works as expected.

rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
90s’ moms were right all along!!
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
None of those mentioned in this post will ever read it. I wish I could persuade Zuck to be a less awful person…
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
You use normal glasses to see better. You buy a smart glass to record people without their knowledge. The only thing similar in these objects is that your wear them on your face.
rpgbr··on Tacky men with ridiculous glasses want you to wear them too
Whatever, man. Making fun of those losers is the least damage we can cause to them. No need to defend the Zucks and co. like they were kids (although I agree they behave like children).
rpgbr··on Apple Intelligence may become mandatory in iOS and macOS 27
Note that the alert isn’t about being able or not to disable Siri. It’s about Apple Intelligence. Those are two different things. You can disable Siri AI and you’ll still have Apple Intelligence in other OS surfaces.
rpgbr··on Brazilian Internet Forum (FIB16) in Belém, Pará: A Visual Tour
This week I attended the Brazilian Internet Forum, in Belém, Pará, part of the Amazon forest region. It was delightful. I couldn't watch the discussions, because I was there for a job, but I managed to take some pictures of the event and also Belém. Hope you enjoy!
rpgbr··on Brazil's Pix payment system faces pressure from Visa and Mastercard
Pix isn't intended (yet) for foreigners to use. It's mostly for local Brazilians, and here it's brilliant: free for personal use, really fast (frequently instantaneous, has a 10 second limit), and accessible (every major bank and most of the smaller ones supports it).

I can understand why Visa and Mastercard are worried. Apple is as well, since it refuses to support Pix in Apple Pay, which is mandatory in Brazil. But honestly? Fuck these companies. (Sorry about my French, I couldn't think of another way to put it.)
