Different people learn new things differently. Folks without a background in RE, who are playing with these tools, may also not care about privacy until they find a reason to. I don’t see anything wrong with folks taking a roundabout way of finding out how things work; Be it software or privacy.
It's a thesis statement. The subsequent text is there to support that claim. I think you should read more before passing judgement on not thinking about the problem enough. ironic.
No, It doesn’t depend. This is a ridiculous take. Of course fictional violence doesn’t harm you. Disturbed people cause harm. Media doesn’t create disturbed people.
I don't think anyone, given better alternatives, would choose games like these. There's a reason low effort output of LLMs has been dubbed Slop... Slop isn't fun or interesting to consume.
And yet it isn’t, my personal issue that it is. Reddit has been making itself worse in an attempt to make more money for a long time. I have no sympathy for a platform that trades user experience for money like this. Worth noting that it’s trivial to scrape reddit even without rss or an account.
Personally, I struggle to find an upside in the galaxy of downsides. I don’t want to trade my agency for convenience, regardless of the topic or venue.
No, they definitely don’t care about what individual users think. They want to make the cheapest shows possible that get views. This is why they cancel shows people love. Not enough people love them. It’s not about making “good” content. It’s only about views/subscriptions. A platform that had great content that used user opinions would be nice to use, but the enshitification of publicly traded companies would prevent that from happening.
yeah, I'm not sure what your goal is pedantically picking apart my argument when the subject at hand is clearly not "open source". love xkcd though. :P
open source gives you freedom to read/edit/learn from the source code.
Open weights don't let you read/edit/learn from the source.
open wights have more in common with traditional binary distribution of software, ala closed source software.
Only in this specific context has the entire meaning of the words totally inverted.
I can run lots of binaries on my computer that don't have source available, they are not open source. These words matter.
This is not open source; you mean open weight. These models are the antithesis of FOSS. Is it better than hosted models from other big labs? Yes, but not by much from a freedom perspective. especially considering the texts these were trained on. Grumble grumble, these details matter.
He’s asking you to elaborate as to why you say it’s not a big deal. Claims with reasoned arguments are more productive. Otherwise you’re just shouting hot takes without any backing. Show your work.
They’re talking about having personas for different purposes. Very simplified Example: Only talking about topic XYZ over tor with good opsec; talking about topic ABC openly.
