Your comments are slop and I do care about it. I care that when I open the comments on HN now I have to scroll past a bunch of people loudly proclaiming they were unable to read the article or how it sounds like AI, etc, etc.
You are copying and pasting the same thing all over the place, that is slop/spam/what have you but it's not contributing.
I don't care if you don't want to read ai written or edited posts. You don't need to announce it in every thread just close the article and move on.
It's how we ended up with more niche job boards with scraped postings than there are altcoins and seven million sites that are nomadlist but in a different niche with bad data.
No it isn't being pragmatic and honest it's trying to find some weird edge cases to argue that his original claim(which was false) is actually technically true because under conditions X, Y, Z which impacts basically no one ever an ICE is required. It's silly. 350 million people in the country and you're coming up with situations that impact a few thousand of them a year as if thats a legitimate concern with EVs. Nothing honest about that.
Coming up with a situation where you make the worst possible travel plans, make the worst possible choices and still it's workable with an EV is not the argument you seem to think it is.
I grew up in Ontario and I'm familiar with the area. It still seems like an absurd trip plan but you do you.
Though we're back to the fact that even in your worst case the most that can be said is it would be slightly more inconvenient given current charger network. In reality you'd problem just do a better job picking a base location or not choosing one given the distances if you were really worried.
Planning a vacation where even after travelling to your accommodation you require at least 10 hours of driving over a 3 day period just to get to the places you actually want to visit is absurd and uncommon.

At no point was there any risk of them being without charge even on their longest driving day.
You are raising issues in this post that I would guess impact less than a hundredth of a percent of the driving population of North America. These are really not issues we need to be concerned about and they are very easily solved by installing more chargers. It's a solved problem without demand.
So bluntly I don't understand the points of your comments at all. Is there places where it will take longer to drive an EV currently yes. Is there are two points in the mainland us where you cannot reach because of a lack of chargers no. Do 99.99% of people find themselves in these areas in a given lifetime? Also no.
But yeah those 10 people that regularly drive those routes should probably stick with their ice vehicles.
Go check one of the charger maps and get back to me with a distance of 400 miles between charges.
Furthest I can see on 11 is 250km.
Newfoundland has a ton of chargers.
Did you even check before posting?
When C and C++ came out we had a whole new class of problems too with people not using them correctly and over time best practices developed to make it safer and better quality. The same thing is happening today with LLMs.
You can build it and they might come but they will leave and never come back if they aren't seeing people to match with.
I do remember Canada telling my partner she wouldn't be guaranteed reentry while they were processing her PR visa until it was finalised if we left the country though so we just ended up doing the Australian half first and I never went back.

They aren't trying to get fit by not going to the gym they are looking for a progressive overload program for math.
For a long time they would have global outages where the status page would list everything as green and the only reason you'd know something was wrong was the forum threads. Their response was that they were too busy fixing the issues to update the status board. Right.
Then once they finally started updating the board they would go several hours between updates with no indication of what was happing "Region x is down" then nothing, again "too busy fixing the issue".
When they came out with paid support I signed up immediately only to find that it gave me an email address to contact support with fast responses promised but most of the time no one was monitoring it. I'd report large outages and not get back responses until the next day and on a few occasions I'd get back a response several days later being like "Can you explain the problem you're seeing?" No mate it was an outage several days ago.
This would all just be annoying customer service if it was a rare occurrence but the reality of using them was that I was dealing with major outages almost monthly at points. If you scroll back through my post history here there were brief periods where stability would improve and I'd get optimistic about them only for it to crash back down to regular outages again days after I posted.
I eventually had to move everything off them to self hosted again which is a pain but far less of a pain since my uptime is dramatically better(!) and when something breaks I know what it is.
I still want fly to succeed but if you're going to host peoples stuff you need to accept responsibility and move budget to ops. Otherwise just kill the hosting entirely and try to become another HashiCorp.
