scriptproof··on Konrad Zuse: Nearly the German Turing
> The article has only an image of the Z4 in Munich. And it is an image of the Z3 if one looks closer at the description on the left.
scriptproof··on My experience of interviewing for a job at Apple
They created at Atari a night shift just for him (he was the only employe of this team) to do the same work than the others. This answers the question.
scriptproof··on How we built our app in 2 weeks using Ionic Framework
"instead of using horrible, ancient tools" (JavaScript=1995, HTML 5 spec=2014) "use capable systems languages like C" (Objective-C=1982, C=1972, Java=1994). WTF?
scriptproof··on W3C declares HTML5 standard complete
Maybe but if you use real DOCTYPE such as <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> then you will see huge difference in rendering.
scriptproof··on Paint.Net 4.0 is now available
Maybe he makes money also with the 50 pages displaying ads you have to visit before to be able to download the file. But this does not detract from the qualities of the software, that I use daily.
scriptproof··on Cap'n Proto, FlatBuffers, and SBE
For the Windows question, I must advise that it is not limited to Visual Studio or Cygwin. I use MingW daily and have a experience similar to that of GCC or Clang on Linux. CLang runs also on Windows but lacks a linker for now and uses that of MingW or VS.
scriptproof··on Smarty: An Autocomplete UI in AngularJS
If you want not use Angular or another other framework, a fully functional autocomplete may be made with 10 lines of JavaScript. See demo: http://www.scriptol.com/javascript/autocomplete.php Adding a scrolling list of choices would requires two or three more lines.
scriptproof··on Swift – observations from Rust’s original designer
It is common when a new language appears to authors to see similarity with their own language. Actually, most of the features of Swift were already implemented in some older language. Extended pattern matching for example exists in Scala.
scriptproof··on Why Ada isn't Popular (1998)
That is the description of Python, Ruby, Scriptol and some others. But programmers moving from Python to Go, shows that experienced programmers are often more concerned about execution speed, even at the cost of work time.
scriptproof··on On MetaFilter Being Penalized By Google: An Explainer
I guess what Matt said to Haughey: your site looks like a content farm, lot of posts have poor content, filled with lots of links, none of them have backlinks so it was hit by Panda. Even if there is a lot of good pages on the site according to someones, it is enough to have also a lot of shallow pages to get caught.
scriptproof··on 2013 Founders’ Letter
Google is a good search engine so such the question that you query has been asked on Stackoverflow. Otherwise you will go nowhere... And the way they evaluate the "quality" of a site by a simple mathematical formula is a joke. We have the same feeling that Larry about the search engine!!!
scriptproof··on Oracle wins appeal re Java API copyrightability [pdf]
The federal circuit found Alsup was confusing a ruling about fair use and copyright. It made clear the copyright must be established at the act of creating, not at the act of using. But some think it is a misinterpretation of the district court ruling.
scriptproof··on Oracle wins appeal re Java API copyrightability [pdf]
The federal circuit ruled that an API is a "creative" work and thus is copyrightable. But is it really creative? It is an interface and made according some rules, not some sort of art... I must point out I have read the 28 pages ruling.
scriptproof··on LLVM based JavaScript JIT that beats V8 on Asm.js benchmarks
Your comment contradicts itself: "Asm.js is a JS subset" and "V8 isn't implementing Asm.js in any way.". It is fully implemented, of course, it is only the "use asm.js" directive that is not. That prevents some control to signal non asm.js code in a JS file, and only that.
scriptproof··on A live HTML5 editor made with Node.js
Some tutorials here: http://www.scriptol.com/javascript/ Even PHP can use an HTML interface!
scriptproof··on Google+ Head Vic Gundotra Leaving Company
Maybe the argument is right, but Eric Schmidt was replaced by Larry Page on April 4, 2010 and G+ was launched on September 20, 2011. So the former can not be responsible for how G+ works. What he failed was to not have created a social network sooner.
scriptproof··on How I Came to Write D
I had a rather critical view of D at first. Another C like again, we never get rid of these bracket-oriented languages! Then came Go and Rust, and my opinion has changed, I see it more favorably, as it does not seem to be the worst of them.
scriptproof··on Servo: Inside Mozilla's mission to reinvent the web browser
Something like XAML?
scriptproof··on Synthetic Muscle Made of Fishing Line is 100 Times Stronger Than the Real Thing
I believe you have not read the article entirely. The principle is not to twist the line to contract the muscle, that is made with an actuator, the principle is to apply a current to a mechanically twisted fiber to contract it and produce a movement.
scriptproof··on The French way of cancer treatment
Pharmaceutical not equal doctors. The former is not funded by doctors but by the patients. So it will be better to extend medicaid to more people to fund the former...
scriptproof··on Darpa Open Catalog
The list of features is impressive: http://julialang.org/. Concurrency, metaprogramming, efficient macros, generics, etc...
scriptproof··on FOSS Photoshop killer Krita may release on Steam [video]
We should build a list of all the Gimp drawbacks somewhere. I would add for example: why several steps are involved to create a new image with a transparent background? I always create new images like that.
scriptproof··on Confession From a Go Programmer
Do not work for me too. Amazing the site name is "not broken".
scriptproof··on So, You Want to Write Your Own Language?
Even if D is a lot better than Rust, Go or others about the style, I am amazed it is a concern for the author. Besides that, good advices to a candidate language author.
scriptproof··on Go by Example
http://commandcenter.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/esmereldas-imagi...
scriptproof··on Monolithic Node.js
I believe the point is in the conclusion and the content leads to the conclusion: If you change your mind, you may start to see the advantages of Node, that is not possible if you continue to think with older models in mind.
scriptproof··on Yogaglo Patent Issued
I recently discovered someone patented the android robot (granted in 2013) and other functions of robots such as walking. So I am not surprised. http://www.scriptol.com/robotics/patents.php
scriptproof··on ‘Dutch sandwich’ grows as Google shifts €8.8bn to Bermuda
Maybe because in incognito mode you are not tracked, so you can not have contextual ads. Apparently, the service do not try to serve non-contextual-ads at all.
scriptproof··on [dead]
A such system could be useful on a Raspberry Pi, but the author speaking of Node as a language raise some doubts.
scriptproof··on French National Police Switch 37,000 Desktop PCs to Linux
Gendarmerie is the police for rural areas.
