"pop-up banners that afflict the global web as a result of their regulations"

It is very annoyous but it is also the choice of the sites, you can put a discret banner at the bottom and not disrupt the reading if you want to not annoy people.

These "regulations against us giants" may also have positive effects. They forced Microsoft to offer a choice of browsers on Windows, something requested by Firefox and Opera and that killed Internet Explorer and permitted modern browsers including Google Chrome to florish.

scriptproof··on Cooperative C++ Evolution – Toward a TypeScript for C++
C++ adds class and other features to C++, and this is like TypeScript to Javascript, but what he supports is simplicity and safety thank to a TypeScript approach. Not what C++ brings to C !
scriptproof··on Cooperative C++ Evolution – Toward a TypeScript for C++
Dart compile to JavaScript, TypeScript like stated above augments JavaScript, and transpiles also when needed.
scriptproof··on Philips and the death of Europe's last electronics giant [video]

scriptproof··on ChatGPT Plus
The Chinese version would have to complies with party guidelines, so not for me. But I am curious what sort of service Microsoft will offer when this will be integrated in Bing. Or the Google's version.
scriptproof··on The limits of "computational photography"
They would have to rewrite entirely their software. There had been some attemps to use these Qualcomm processors in cameras (the Yi M1 for example) and the result was terrible, the autofocus specially.
scriptproof··on I’ve been battling cancer last 2 years, but now only have a few days left
You are surely aware of the campaign "Eat Five Servings of Fruits & Vegetables Per Day". People just don't care.
scriptproof··on Beyond Meat is struggling, and the plant-based meat industry worries
First we have lot of studies based on statistics. There are also simple statistics which show than vegetarian live longer then meat eaters. Then we have the five blue zone where people do not eat meat and most of them are centenarians.

But some people do not support their habits to be changed and are ready to believe anything that confort their opinions. Even if their habits destroy the planet.

scriptproof··on The Controversy over English King Richard III's Remains
Using Netflix as a model is a recipe for a very distorted reality.
scriptproof··on We’re fine without Facebook, German and French ministers say
They do not threaten to ban Meta. Just the opposite. Meta threats to quit Europa (That is just words actually). Meta could work without moving data to the USA.
scriptproof··on Krita 5.0
That do not answer my question. Is SeExpr + Python better than Canvas + JavaScript. If yes, then how?
scriptproof··on Krita 5.0
I looked at the script language, SeExpr. Look like PHP with math functions. Is this really better than what we have in HTML Canvas?
scriptproof··on Senegal Programming Language
Add Python, Dart, Julia, Eiffel, Pascal...
scriptproof··on Show HN: A tool for your learning, like Anki and Notion in one
I tried the software and then when I opened an app the screen became full of windows. Never seen that before. I have to stop the computer. So I desinstalled it. That seem a good reason to not use it to me.
scriptproof··on Google’s copying of the Java SE API was fair use [pdf]
The alternative would have been not using Java at all. That would have made attracting programmers more difficult at the beginning of the Android platform, but then, Java would have disappeared on mobiles, at least. I do not discuss why Oracle thinks is entitled to have of big chunk of the revenues of Android and the work of Google.

scriptproof··on Ennio Morricone has died
You do not even take the time to look at a dictionary. Prolific means producing a lot. No mention of quality.
scriptproof··on Language Design: Use 'ident: Type' not 'Type ident'
If consistency if so important, why do we have: function, func, fun, fn, def, etc... depending the author? For clarity, use "function", for simplicity use "fn", other forms are just fancy.
scriptproof··on Eclipse Theia 1.0 – Open-Source Alternative to Visual Studio Code
Tried to make an app. That requires yarn. Yarn stopped because I have Node.js version 12 and version 10 is expected!!! Are they serious?
scriptproof··on Eclipse Theia 1.0 – Open-Source Alternative to Visual Studio Code
Citation: "Unfortunately, Microsoft prohibits non-Visual Studio products from installing any binaries downloaded from their marketplace". Etc...
scriptproof··on Supreme Court to Hear Google-Oracle Copyright Fight
They could have used a different system (LLVM?) and Java would have become irrelevant on mobiles.
scriptproof··on HarmonyOS is Huawei’s Android alternative for smartphones and smart home devices
We see what Muslim is doing to its China minorities.
scriptproof··on Apple is regressing to their 1990s identity
Then their engineers are not very good, because all the improvements now come from Google (Night Sight, 3D gestures), Huawei (5x zoom), Samsung (60MP sensor), Oppo/Xiaomi (front camera behind the display) and so ones.
scriptproof··on Is this Paypal experience customary?
This is one experience. I have some exchanges with paypal and their answers were perfectly accurate and personalized. After many transactions, I have no reason to complain for now. About the case of the OP, I once had 2000€ credited on my bank account for no reason. I knew it was an error and did not touch it. Several days after, the amount was silently debited. No message from the bank. This is not specific to Paypal.
scriptproof··on A 17k sport car made in France
The point is that I would certainly buy this car have I the money, despite minor drawbacks (not "horrendous" based on the video).
scriptproof··on Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat's plant-based burgers aren't healthier
> Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are continuing to tweak their recipes. The Impossible Burger 2.0, for example, launched earlier this year and was designed to be substantially healthier (and tastier) than the original, with less fat and sodium.

The last sentence cancels the whole purpose of the article. Sodium is the main concern and new recipe use less sodium. Problem solved.

scriptproof··on InNative: Run WebAssembly Outside the Sandbox at 95% Native Speed
You can avoid the effort to use the uppercase key and write wasm (or Wasm), that is the correct typography. Asm in wasm is acronym for nothing.
scriptproof··on Boeing Resisted Pilots’ Calls for Aggressive Steps on 737 Max
A late and desperate reaction as explained in many articles about the crash of the 737 max and its economical and technical causes.
scriptproof··on Sony to slash smartphone workforce
I suppose you are speaking of A7 II? Overheating is a problem for video only, and fixed on the A6400. Their technology is ahead of competition, not "meh". But it is a shame they do not have full touch screen, for some reason.
