shellehs··on Russia 'successfully tests' its unplugged internet
Russia unplugged the internet and took a look at China.
shellehs··on Confessions of an Instagram Influencer
I guess(and hope) more and more people are going to accept the fact, most beautiful photos on social media are fake and crafted reality. The people appeared in a photo just like a cartoon character similarly. What you see is not reality but dream you want to live with. Just like you are watching a movie, sometime you can get out from the movie, but you know it is a movie deep in your heart
shellehs··on AngelList acquires Product Hunt
I look PH as a very good place to promote products, and it's born to promote products. No matter it's a good or bad product, they all don't want to miss a chance to reach their customers.

> True users vote for USEFUL and/or LOVELY products for themselves, growth hackers try their best to drive users vote for specific products.

I can't see that's good or evil, growth hacking may hurt the community, or may bring a lot of users and traffic in a short period.

And I think every community has possibility to become a place for growth hackers if it needs to attract more users and grow bigger.

Just like every corner has possibility to become a place for advertisements. If I don't like it, I just ignore it. And that also makes opportunity for competitors or products like ad-block to stand out.

Anyway I love PH and really feel sad for the acquisition.

shellehs··on Prototype ergonomic mechanical keyboards
I think it would be very helpful to prevent twisting my wrist as QWERTY standard keyboard.
shellehs··on Ask HN: Is it just me or has YouTube gone fanatical on ads?
It is not me. Here it is like 1 in every 10 or more videos, chances are when I continue to watch videos there could be no ads. Actually, some ads I really like that I want to replay.

It is not like in Chinese Youtube-alike online video sites, like Youku, Letv, they have 30 - 60 seconds ads in every beginning of a video, and there was no chance to "skip" the ads, even I use Adblock, it MAY be block the contents but never the ad itself.

shellehs··on Winamp shutting down on December 20th, 2013

After connected using vpn( this is able to watch youtube HD videos ), It works but speed is terribly slow at beginning. But then, it runs FAST.

shellehs··on Game Programmer Quits Job To Sell Street Food, Doubles Salary
This title could attract more traffic. Programmer is a good topic, and double salary as well.

Your point is correct. But people will ignore the key.

shellehs··on Game Programmer Quits Job To Sell Street Food, Doubles Salary
Nope. See this Programmers salary report :

http://www.programmer.com.cn/14918/

CNY 3k - 5k , that means USD 400 - 800.

Nearly 1/5 programmers in China live in this salary.

What USD 500 can buy in America?

shellehs··on Ask HN: The black bar of HN's top navigate bar
thanks!
shellehs··on iOS 7
As some one said(I forgot the reference ), it's not Flat design, it's flatter than previous version.

I agreed with "I think iOS 7, on the whole, looks worse than iOS 6." The icons look weird, and most of all, harder to be recognized than pre-version, that's why they lose their elegant.

I prefer to say, Flat design does not mean a flat element, flat appearance, flat interface. We should feel flat, the interactive should be flat, not just only our eyes see it is flat.

shellehs··on Find Your Color Scheme
I prefer this site. clearer and simpler, focus, than http://colourco.de/
shellehs··on Chinese boy defaces ancient Egyptian sculpture, prompts online outrage
looks some one negative my comment.

Could I have the reason why you think it's shitty?

Did I say something wrong? or unproper?

shellehs··on Chinese boy defaces ancient Egyptian sculpture, prompts online outrage
In Chinese traditional culture, to write poems or paint on places or buildings or something, is some kinda, honor(?). And more famous persons's writing or painting, more famous the place to be. Then, the words or paints became important components of the place. It looks not shame, or bad but some behavior of culture.

Even one place is known by few people or none, or landscape is not attracting, if some well-known person defaced, then it will be well-known and be attracting.

Chinese belief in that nature and culture should be harmony. Later travelers come to see not only how beautiful the place, but also the marks left by whom, and how the words and paintings effected people to evaluate the place.

Now, people think to do so is damage the place.. It's bad, people who did that will be punished.

My point is, anything illegal, should be punished or maybe then discussed. If not, should be discussed.

shellehs··on The Coolest Experience I Had as an Apple Store Employee
At first, I thought why not take two colors, than make the kids who preferred black stood left and the others on right side. There should be many simple ways to deal with that situation quickly and easily. I

The story looks a little weird, even not true, like I don't quite remember which product had just released that morning,, is it true?

But at the end, I found I was misunderstood and also was touched.
