sixothree··on Hackers expose the identities of more than 40k DHS employees
Speaking of which, I feel like ICE's next move is to start arresting people for not turning in their friends, neighbors, and coworkers. We know they're planning for it at least.
sixothree··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
The #1 reason sighted by 2nd amendment loyalists for needing such liberal gun rights is to protect us all from government overreach. I assume that's what he means.
sixothree··on Evidence of a spying operation by ICE against left-wing social movements
And definitely not religious preferences.
sixothree··on Microsoft offers mass buyouts for roughly a quarter of its workforce
I'm sure their dau decline and actually blocking most usage (non-logged in users) has helped a lot.

> it's just a job

Considering what you're responding to, it sounds like you're suggesting people over 55 don't deserve to be respected or have a good position in life.

sixothree··on Root shell on Samsung TV
The thing about the facebook is listening to you rumors is that the reality is so much worse than them actually surreptitiously listening to you. Their knowing who you're interacting with and what you're likely to talk about is more alarming. Dismissing facebook listening to your conversations is shortsighted in a way I find fairly repulsive.

The comment seems to imply to me that they are too gullible to understand what the LLM tells them and are being gaslit into believing things that smarter researchers would know without needing an LLM. Honestly, the comment seems dismissive of the current reality in general.
sixothree··on Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design
I'm not sure why you are participating in this thread then.
sixothree··on OpenCode has a security breach last that impacted 1.4% of console users
I'm pretty sure their timeline of the breach is also not correct. I think information about my account was exposed over a month ago.
sixothree··on OpenCode and OpenAI issue refunds after security breach of OpenCode console
I'm pretty sure their timeline for the intrusion is not quite honest. I started getting strange phone calls about a month or so ago trying to recover an account and the leaked two pieces of information to me in that attempt. These pretty much tie it to opencode.
sixothree··on Ask HN: How to deal with shipping AI-written code you don't understand?
Very similar here. For internal projects the test is - if it works, unit and integration tests were created, and it follows our architecture correctly.
sixothree··on Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design
You point is?
sixothree··on Wayland desktop for Linux with skeuomorphic design
That might be the thing. In real life you don't use the same stationary for years. Your desk is a reflection of your mood and evolves almost daily. Maybe that's where these fail?
sixothree··on Catch a Bird – I made it for my own sanity
There's a surprising lack of web based cat toys. I've vibe coded a good handful but nothing hits 100%.
sixothree··on Catch a Bird – I made it for my own sanity
Some days are just not good days.

Are you running club-3090 or something else?
sixothree··on A city-building game in which the city would prefer you didn't
Because I don't know enough about the internal divisions in other countries. But I can tell you Americans will fight progress at every turn.
sixothree··on A city-building game in which the city would prefer you didn't
I think you missed the point. I was pretty clear about not focusing on Civ specifically.
sixothree··on A city-building game in which the city would prefer you didn't
I play games like Civilization and we get these tech trees and policy trees and such. And I can never help but wonder what it would be like to play these when the people of the territory act like Americans. You try to incentivize future technology and they push back. You try and prioritize education and they push back. There is always division and infighting.

Regardless, I don't think it would actually make the game more fun.

sixothree··on A statement on the Tor Project's relationship with Mullvad
Masked men are in the streets shooting people. I'd say the system has failed.
sixothree··on Sorry, I'm in a meeting
Ohh. You hear yourself through their non-isolating microphones. Argh. That's a brutal one.
sixothree··on Sorry, I'm in a meeting
It's hard to describe how difficult it is to hear someone talking and then a second later hear then in your headphones. It really breaks my concentration. And it's a solvable technology problem - just use the local network for people in the same subnet. But every meeting provider wants _everything_ routed through their servers. There's no escaping they prying eyes.
sixothree··on Sorry, I'm in a meeting
Because with google it's an unwinnable arms race.

"With enough incompetence, the only interpretation is malice." - SixOThree
sixothree··on Man discovers his parents' coffee machine used 1TB of data in 10 days
Maybe they literally just don't care about how much traffic they put on your network. Maybe the thought is "1 tb of traffic internally is very low utilization of the network over the course of a month".
sixothree··on I gave Opus 5.5 one prompt and six hours to visualize Invisible Cities
Maybe the interactive link in the article for the optic focus can lead you on a fun journey instead. And the bottom-right of every visualization is a link to yet another fun diorama to explore.
sixothree··on Claude Haiku 5.5
... is a link to the source code.
sixothree··on Claude Haiku 5.5
It's the easiest way to convey what I was doing. Anyway, some prompts added. I have other videos too if intersted.
sixothree··on Claude Haiku 5.5
I'm going to truncate a lot of this. But here is the root prompt that will get you a video.

Make a youtube poop video about having too many tabs that keep appearing faster than you can close them. Style it after the "too many cooks" viral youtube video that seemed to repeat over and over, getting worse and worse every time. You have ffmpeg and a plethora of programming languages at your disposal. Go completely nuts and make it as extensive and creative as you want. Render should be 1920x1080, and later 4k if you did a good job.
[discussions about acts, characters, darkening theme, etc.]

Workshopping the acts:

The play has a font issue. See screenshot.

Also, can you change the thing that happens at the start of episode one the cursor clicking the one tab and it becomes two. Then it clicks another tab and it becomes four. Is that a breaking change? You can change the speed of the actions to fit it in if needed.

Here is a refinement prompt:

The last screen just before "The End", the cursor clicks on the browser window instead of the tab close button. Can you make it click on the tab itself? Here is a screenshot of where it clicks [Image #3]

Also, on the intro screen, the cursor clicks the tab and new tabs open, can you have it click the links in the page instead. See screenshot[Image #4].

You can keep the exact same timing for both of these.
