slxh··on Passports Required for Some U.S. Domestic Travel in 2016?
wow... next thing you know, you'll have to stay home if you owe taxes?
slxh··on Use micromorts to fight terrorism
How many terrorism micromorts did the government help prevent? is it worth giving up your privacy for that?
slxh··on “People who implement new and improved interfaces always seem to get that wrong”
Many times, it might be because most people don't like changes when what they have works, and not because the new interfaces are worst.
slxh··on Things mimicking other things
I have to agree... if it didn't keep moving for so long it would be a big plus, for example.
slxh··on Google integrates Twitter into its desktop search results
it's about time Twitter gets out of the dark-web...
slxh··on Locking the Web Open: A Call for a Distributed Web
too bad Google blocks adhoc WiFi on Android... that might have helped too.
slxh··on Morphis: Encrypted distributed datastore
sorry, I am not and I haven't used it yet, but it looks like an interesting project.
slxh··on Mass FTP Crawling
For most people nowadays, "the cloud" probably doesn't have anything to do with accessing an FTP server... specifically not a public FTP server unless the cloud hosts are absolutely careless...

I remember using sites like http://ftpsearch.ntnu.no probably 15 years ago to find very interesting files on public FTP servers (but I don't think that this one exists anymore)

slxh··on A Simple Fix for Drunken Driving: Modest, Immediate Penalties

slxh··on Ohm (YC S15) is a smarter, lighter car battery that works with your existing car
but I think that lead-acid batteries can become damaged if you bring the charge below a certain value... usually not a problem with cars but...
slxh··on How Cheap Can Solar Get?
Tesla's Powerwall uses Lithium Ion batteries, so even if you are right, it doesn't apply in that case.
slxh··on How Cheap Can Solar Get?
You probably also should include the CO2 footprint of energy storage/batteries if you plan on going 100% solar.
slxh··on Fiber Optic Bliss
If they don't want competition, they should at least provide the latest technology at a reasonable price...
slxh··on Privacy Badger – Block spying ads and invisible trackers
The back and forward browser buttons appear to break the status reported by this extension.
slxh··on Tesla unveils new car-charging robo-snake
Somewhat like this but while on the move
slxh··on Tesla unveils new car-charging robo-snake
Very cool tech indeed.

A battery swap while on the move might be more efficient/faster then a charge on the move. (But it would be nice if the next-gen solar panels installed on a car would be efficient enough to provide enough power for a car drive)

slxh··on YouTube Does Away with Its Wretched Practice of Displaying “301+” Views
next, Google will do away with it's inflated search result count (ie: "About 171,000,000 results" turns out to really be 322 results if you search for: youtube 301, on Google, on my computer)
slxh··on Google plans monthly security updates for Nexus phones
You are basically unprotected 100% of the time anyways... as long as you are not a target, you should be ok.

Also, I think that Microsoft have been doing monthly security updates for many years... and once in a while, they push an update early for very severe bugs.

Don't forget the RFID tags in your car wheels (TPMS and probably tires): http://www.computerworld.com/article/2519983/data-privacy/ti...
slxh··on Show HN: Image Processing for Everybody
I believe that is a rule that many photographers sometime use (placing the dominant eye in the center of the photo) [1].

slxh··on Federal Judge Strikes Down Idaho ‘Ag-Gag Law’
Does it depend on the state if you only record video (no audi)? I think that laws need updating to include video (at least in those states requiring consent for audio).

slxh··on I noticed some disturbing privacy defaults in Windows 10
All companies should be legally required to make those invasive privacy settings opt-in and not opt-out... and maybe attach some jail time consequences for CEOs for violating these new laws.
slxh··on How to Scrape Data from Facebook Page Posts for Statistical Analysis
Thank you for this, I modified it to be able to grab "all" posts/comments/likes from groups... and store them in an sqlite3 DB (because there is just too many rows for a spread sheet): https://github.com/slxh/facebook-scraper
