soared··on Lego collaboration with Daft Punk
Such an HN response. This is a page announcing a partnership and that a fam created idea for a themed set has been accepted.

The set is not anywhere near finalized, and they don’t make any claims close to that. The original fan made set uses a very creative spinning light, and I’m sure that will be built on.

soared··on Show HN: I put employees inside S&P 500 market-cap bubbles
1. The legend uses different icons than the visualization 2. Why would you purposefully make every bubble empty? Change the scale to 1000 employees otherwise it’s deceptive. 10k employees is arbitrary.
soared··on Where Wealth Is Moving in America (2023)
Useless data without context.

What is the age of the average Florida 2026 transplant? Couldn’t this just be near-retiree boomers moving to Florida, which doesn’t really indicate much?

What are these numbers compared to years prior? Do they fluctuate, or are they a continuous trend?

How much of the California and Texas numbers are caused by a small number of individuals (the Elon effect)?

soared··on If you don't run your own LLM proxy, how do you know whats going on?
One man’s fun is another man’s “idk what any of these words mean, I pay $20/mo for some company to abstract this complexity away”

For clarity, I do like blog posts like these.

soared··on Visa, Mastercard, Major Banks Facing New Litigation over 'Anticompetitive' Fees
UPI mandates are not wildly annoying to deal with. I’d pay 2.9% for someone to manage them for me.
soared··on Visa, Mastercard, major banks facing new litigation over 'anticompetitive' fees
I really do not want even more divergence between the price listed and what I actually pay.
soared··on What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks
Coffee shops don’t qualify for l2/l3
soared··on What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks
Also available in Canada now!
soared··on 216M Spy TVs – The LG Smart TV Problem [video]
TVs have streaming services, those need internet to function.

What else does anyone (average consumer) use their TV for? I don’t want a separate device to plug in and remote just to stream things.

soared··on The Coldcard Disaster Gets Worse: The Hack May Have Reached $88.6M
Do we know how the attacker used this knowledge to access wallets? I’m not super familiar with crypto or wallets but that’s the last piece I’m missing
soared··on The Coldcard Disaster Gets Worse: The Hack May Have Reached $88.6M
An FDIC insured wallet would solve this, similar to bank accounts.
soared··on The Coldcard Disaster Gets Worse: The Hack May Have Reached $88.6M
Interesting topic, but I don’t like this writing style. It’s a lot of words to say very little and repeats sentence structure often. The author assumes the reader knows about this hack already, and doesn’t not provide context on what it is, or details like why the attacker is storing coins in 4,000+ wallets.
soared··on Starter Homes Are Piling Up While Luxury Homes Fly Off the Market
Pure clickbait to define a start home solely by the price and nothing else. The titles claim is correct overall, correct for some cities, but incorrect for many cities. No mention of volume - how many homes are in the large “start home” band v the small top 5% band?

Regardless, even calling them lower cost houses still supports the thesis: more data on the K shaped economy.

soared··on REO Trucks I4 4WD Pickup Truck Starts at $21,500
Except this company is brand new and 100% skipped the ceo and cmo steps.
soared··on Kaiser nurses say AI, surveillance are making their jobs and patient care worse
I’d rather have an NP 10 times out of ten for primary care
soared··on S&P downgrades Oracle to BBB – only one notch above junk level
A lot of internal stuff ends up on Oracle cloud since it’s easier, jira, confluence, etc
soared··on USAA closed 51% of home insurance claims without making a payment in 2025
You can’t really expect insurance companies to identify and support policies in areas where many homes may be at huge risk of flooding, while another has zero.

That’s massive operational overhead and is definitely not as simple as looking at elevation, and that overhead is reasonably not worth it for those companies.

soared··on USAA closed 51% of home insurance claims without making a payment in 2025
I would pretty much disagree with everything here.

Paying off a 3% mortgage means you could not invest that money, which would return 7% on average or like 10+% recently. That is a lot of lost money.

Anyone whos not L5 at bigtech cannot afford any home on a cash basis. That’s not a realistic bar.

That being said, insurance is wildly different by state and location and it sounds like it royally sucks in Texas.

soared··on Tell HN: Installing Cursor on iOS irreversibly changes your privacy settings
That support quote is from an LLM. If you have any escalation paths (twitter, or this thread lol) there may still be a way to change it back.
soared··on What Ozempic does to the gut-brain axis
Omeprazole is not great long term FYI - worth talking to your doctor or getting a second opinion to discuss.
soared··on Temporary Cloudflare accounts for AI agents
I’m going to need a wrapper for all these services offering this service.
soared··on Seven Perfect Shuffles Randomize a Deck of Cards. But How Many Sloppy Ones?
I don’t know on perfect shuffles but for the sloppy shuffles, the deck is cut at a random location between each shuffle.
soared··on Seven Perfect Shuffles Randomize a Deck of Cards. But How Many Sloppy Ones?
Upper limit of 14. I’m curious then - when playing cards with friends we start with a semi -random, but definitely clumped, deck. It gets shuffled a couple times.

How random is that deck? How many “cold spots” does it have? Just how not random of decks are people playing with, and ultimately does that even matter if players lack the knowledge or skill to change their play because of that knowledge?

soared··on Workers are spending over 6 hours a week botsitting AI, fueling job frustration
They are, eng makes 600k/yr and I make 2, so their times is worth triple mine. It’s cost effective to make me toil and drown in frustration if it reduces ticket volume.
soared··on Euro-Office: First version of the open-source web office is here
https://github.com/Euro-Office

I’m not familiar with the project, but can anyone clarify what it means that it’s not intended to be used standalone and instead built into other projects? What’s the intention / expectation?

soared··on Workers are spending over 6 hours a week botsitting AI, fueling job frustration
I spend at least 6 hours a week arguing with bots owned by other teams, as I’m unable to reach a human before I bypass their bot. 10k person company, clients are paying for my time.
soared··on Starlink shifts hardware from one-time purchase to $10/month rental
Agreed - this shifts large single time purchases into MRR which looks way better to investors.
soared··on Ask HN: Why hasn't there been a real competitor to Ticketmaster yet?
Artists want to make art, not sit on the phone coordinating with venues, vendors, promoters, insurance, marketing, etc.
soared··on Dell Unveils $699 Laptop with Features 'You Won't Find on a MacBook Neo'
Classic dell to compete on tech specs, but miss the idea of what makes Apple what it is.

I don’t need a neo, but I would get one because the hardware is the absolute best quality, and everything works with little to no issues. I don’t want windows hello, I want the metal body, great keyboard, screen, etc.

I like windows way better than macOS, but Mac hardware only ever is comparable to windows surface for me.

soared··on Can the stockmarket swallow Anthropic, SpaceX and OpenAI?
A 30% increase in one year, across only 3 companies, seems like a of a stretch. Especially given current economic/etc climates.
