somdax··on Solid, a spec that lets people store their data securely in decentralized Pods
Another scenario is going to a doctors appointment and having to fill out forms with your info (name, address, preferences, medical history and etc)

with a system like this, you can tap into a sign in station and give them access.

Doctors can also send you any documents they generate and it gets stored in your POD.

somdax··on Show HN: Pipes puzzle (a.k.a. Net) on a hexagonal grid
Only played a few levels, but I loved it!
somdax··on Ask HN: Do you feel overwhelmed by the amount of information?
I am the same way.

One thing that helped me in the past to focus and move past the paralysis was to meditate and exercise.

Life has been hectic and I lost my routine, but I will try then again once I can establish a routine again.

somdax··on Some tiny personal programs I've written
I wrote a tiny program to help me buy a puppy :)

The place I wanted to get a puppy from said that they didn't take reservations for the upcoming puppies until they were born. The only way to know when they were born was to check their website and then give them a call.

So the tiny program I wrote kept checking a webpage and whenever it changed content, it would sende a text message "PUPPY ALERT!".

A few hours after I deployed the program, I got message so I thought it had a bug, but no, the puppies had just been born <3

somdax··on Is Web3 anything?
Yep yep. Your points are all valid and true, as far as I can see.

I think it would be interesting of governments started using this tech (Blockchain, smart contracts, etc) to improve existing systems. To me, I can see this tech being used to improve infrastructure in a lot of public services (library cards, driver license registry, etc)

Estonia has been doing that. I bet there is something that other countries can learn about what works and what doesn't

somdax··on Is Web3 anything?
Not trying to prove or disprove an argument. This project seems to be trying to address what you mentioned. I hope you find it interesting :)

somdax··on The U.S. Army's Plans to Use 100k Microsoft HoloLens Headsets in Battle
There was a lot of noise and concern from the people building hololens. I am not sure what the state is now: https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/22/18236116/microsoft-holole...
somdax··on Zero Data App
You can host your own solid server, right?
somdax··on Bitcoin Is Screwed
touché. Right on my face.

So that helps answer what I was thinking. There can definitely be a way to have a decentralized system to which it's actors have their actions regulated by a judicial system.

Thanks!

somdax··on Bitcoin Is Screwed
> the neo-libertarian escapist approach to economics.

Can you define to me what you mean by that?

somdax··on Bitcoin Is Screwed
About Decentralized Systems. What are some those that you know about that are being used and can be considered a mature and proven decentralized system? (However you want to defineature and proven)

Is the collection of governments around the world an example of a decentralized system?

somdax··on Bitcoin Is Screwed
The post has no actual facts. It just an opinion without facts or deep understanding of the economic model.
