Wish I could click and get Netscape
speedyrev··on Licensed to Bill
There's a car in my town that has a mix of B's and 8's. Almost impossible to tell which is which.
speedyrev··on 160-Year-Old Documents Intentionally Destroyed in Franklin County, N.C.
I don't think the law was as much of a concern as prominent people's reputations.
speedyrev··on New Chromecast apps for the holidays
If it had Amazon Prime, it would be a perfect match for me. Until then, Roku.
speedyrev··on Show HN: See where in the world the F-bomb is being dropped
So a step further, you could add a user input feature and let people track any word they want.
speedyrev··on Show HN: Real-time file sharing site
I don't know that the site is NSFW, but clicking the links on the site is not advised at work.
speedyrev··on Announcing The Dark Mail Alliance – Founded by Silent Circle and Lavabit
SPOILER: A year from now we find out this is an NSA black ops project.
speedyrev··on A Look Into Facebook's Potential to Recognize Anybody's Face
Not only do they have face models. But they have immense details about those faces. Location, relationship connections, product endorsements, work and school connections... After the last few revelations about the NSA that have come out. I think you should assume that it is all being used.
speedyrev··on Elon Musk to make James Bond submarine car a reality
Because it gives him positive press. Plain and simple.
speedyrev··on Show HN: I suck at remembering names, so I built an app to help
How about a text field that allows you to write something about them. "Dude with weird hair, works for Widgets Inc. Said he was divorced but had a daughter in college." Then make that info available when he calls me.
speedyrev··on If you use Google+, you could become an ad next month
Just make sure there is no check in the box.
speedyrev··on A 3D printed toothbrush for all your teeth
This is technology fixing a problem that doesn't exist.
speedyrev··on Dear USA, my data has left your building
If your data, encrypted or not, travels through the US or any of it's allies, don't you think they already have access if they want it. Privacy is an illusion.
speedyrev··on 30,000 Particles, 60 FPS
This as a background for an audio EQ would be pretty awesome. Have the different frequencies pulsing through the particles :D
speedyrev··on Happy Programmers' Day
http://www.grammarbook.com/punctuation/apostro.asp

speedyrev··on USB Condoms
Well to continue the metaphor, I guess I practice abstinence.
speedyrev··on Apple’s Touch ID: A 500ppi Fingerprint Sensor Built Into iPhone 5S Home Button
I had the Atrix with the fingerprint sensor. The thing that I liked was being able to unlock the phone with one hand. But, the sensor was on the top back center, right where your index finger naturally landed. It was really nice when your hands were full.
speedyrev··on Jeff Atwood's Code Keyboard Review
Lots of hate for a keyboard that is getting reviewed by people based on pictures. Has anybody reviewed it after actually getting their hands on one?
speedyrev··on Why You’ve Never Read “I Have A Dream”
Also keep in mind that the last portion starting with "I have a dream..." and following was all improvised. The original draft didn't include those words.
speedyrev··on The Worst Work Day of My Life So Far
I don't have a lot of respect for any coder who is afraid of leaving the pretty GUI of Windows. They would rather fragment the project than get their hands dirty.
speedyrev··on Defeated
What happens if someone steals your laptop from the table at the end of the conveyor? Does TSA have any liability since the laptop was taken from your possession by them?
speedyrev··on How would the unprotected human body react to the vacuum of outer space?
Well that ruined the end of "Total Recall"

http://thenextweb.com/google/2013/08/14/no-google-did-not-sa... Misquote.
speedyrev··on Senate IP linked to edits in Snowden's wikipedia page
I am aware of the connotation that you sited. But my point is that he is being tried in the media, and perception matters. So, no, I don't think it's OK to label him as a traitor.
speedyrev··on Senate IP linked to edits in Snowden's wikipedia page
No. He has not been convicted of treason. We still have due process.
speedyrev··on The Pixar Theory
Anybody else feel that the author of this theory likes weed a little too much?

As soon as I saw the pic, I thought of this. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1637725/

I hope it's more child friendly

Well, since the Commodore 64 wasn't released until I was 18 yrs old, my answer is no.
speedyrev··on Fake Signs On Bay Area Highways Say Drones Looking For Speeders
Local law enforcement doesn't need million dollar drones or a sizable payload. There are already many small cheap drones available for local use. All that is really needed is a functioning camera.
speedyrev··on Police May Know Exactly Where You Were Last Tuesday
I think you quoted me and posted in the wrong place.

What about a system that had no data retention but could actively scan and compare to a list of plates that had warrants, Amber Alerts or BOLO's. Surveillance is only going to get easier with tech. Rules of use is what is important.
