spiderfarmer··on Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production
Elon promised a lot but delivered almost nothing when it comes to the Cybertruck.
spiderfarmer··on Residential proxies detected on White House network
The proxy for Russian propaganda also runs a Russian proxy.
spiderfarmer··on Residential proxies detected on White House network
That is not an environment for serious people anymore so that's expected.
spiderfarmer··on Jelly Sheet
When I grow up I want to be as intelligent and productive as Mr. Doob.

"Learning" now feels like breaking down your whole Lego build and building it up again, in order to change a few fundamental blocks, while this feels like making only the required changes.
spiderfarmer··on OccupySaaS
Isn't that why it's called software, not hardware? That what I learned in school decades ago.
spiderfarmer··on Cisco gives engineer unlimited AI tokens to rewrite legacy code
To be fair Claude has educated me on numerous vulnerabilities in my legacy code. I imagine I’m not the only one.
spiderfarmer··on Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale
Yes, tax the rich AND increase wages.
spiderfarmer··on Get Ready for Touch on Mac
My wife has the first gen Microsoft Surface laptop.

We have, by accident, rediscovered the touch feature multiple times because every time we stop using it and forget it’s there.

spiderfarmer··on Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale
Opportunity doesn't pay my bills.
spiderfarmer··on Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale
What if we didn't just tax them, but made the whole system fairer so money was distributed more evenly even without the government as a middle man?

Increase wages.

spiderfarmer··on Peter Thiel, the tech oligarch who believes in the Antichrist
Being (exorbitantly) rich in the USA buys you many things.

For example, if it doesn't buy you full on immunity, it buys you lawyers other people can't pay. And if they mess up, your wealth will buy you a pardon.

Also, it automatically buys you a whole clique of people who will defend you online (for free!), by telling criticasters their opinions don't count because they're jealous or not smart enough, because they automatically assume rich people are brilliant and only to be admired and envied. Musk and Thiel are pretty clear examples.

spiderfarmer··on Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone
And let's not forget, he was stupid enough to end up with massive amounts of debt despite his network, his education and his starting capital. Once the USA was stupid enough to elect Trump, every foreign agency must have had him in their crosshairs.
spiderfarmer··on Dutch government had hacked into Jared Kushner's phone
All so Trump can say to his feeble followers "I invented that term".

It's like trying to make "fetch" happen by executive order.

Can we pin your comment as proof that some HN commenters need a joke explained in a peer-reviewed paper?
spiderfarmer··on I no longer care to work on any Ruby gems so I've archived all my repositories
Not everyone. I’ve been a solo entrepreneur since 2015. Developing stuff now feels like I can unwrap a present every day.

I never cared about the social aspects of it other than releasing the odd plugin I developed.

My social life is entirely offline.

spiderfarmer··on "I'm on a war footing": Terry Tao and the crisis in math
Plenty of welders made weaponry that killed babies and none of the famous DIY Youtubers spoke out against that either.
spiderfarmer··on DeepSeek search and fetch – $0.75 per 1000 successful requests
I have always blamed Chinese AI operators for the hundreds of thousands of residential proxy requests I receive each day, but there's no way to be sure.

They absolutely dwarf real traffic if left unchecked (I blocked all countries outside my target area).

spiderfarmer··on Tesla Roadster
Probably because of the Nazi salutes.
spiderfarmer··on Meta’s new commercial terms will allow the scraping of news sites: experts
Big Tech will tell you that you care too much.
spiderfarmer··on Meta’s new commercial terms will allow the scraping of news sites: experts
Not a lawyer, but my understanding is that if a Big Tech company doesn't explicitly rule out using your data, they're using your data. And if they rule it out explicitly, they will eventually still use your data.
spiderfarmer··on Starlink limit hits Ukraine's drones
What's your source for that? A random tweet on X I bet?

> “What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?” Musk wrote in an email to Epstein in November 2012. In another in December 2013, he asked, “Will be in the BVI/St Bart’s area over the holidays. Is there a good time to visit?”

spiderfarmer··on Why is every rationalist blog post way too long?
What’s even worse is that the man has a huge following who all think that he isn’t a bullshitter.
spiderfarmer··on Starlink limit hits Ukraine's drones
Maybe for the MAGA crowd. The rest of the world does not believe what they are told to believe. There are millions of documents and dozens of witnesses that could corroborate the videos, if only they were actually be investigated.
spiderfarmer··on Starlink limit hits Ukraine's drones
It’s so obvious that Putin has something on Trump. It’s either the unsubstantiated pee tape, or they have the video tapes Epstein said he had. And since Musk also (at least) wanted to party on one of the islands wildest nights, there might be even more leverage Putin is using strategically.
spiderfarmer··on Apple HomeView
Even if they succeeded in the sitcom idea, how does that promote their product? It’s easily the worst ad from Apple I have seen in a long time.
spiderfarmer··on Apple HomeView
Well, if their leadership is anything to go by..
spiderfarmer··on I posted to HN, and then my website was flooded with AI bot traffic
Try posting something viral on Mastodon. The logs clearly show that it isn't the most efficient social network.
