stainlu··on Ask HN: How is AI-assisted coding going for you professionally?
The biggest win for me has been cross-stack context switching. I maintain services in TypeScript, Python, and some Go, and the cost of switching between them used to be brutal - remembering idioms, library APIs, error handling patterns. Now I describe what I need and get idiomatic code in whichever language I'm in. That alone probably saves me 30-40 minutes on a typical day.

Where it consistently fails: anything involving the interaction between systems. If a bug spans a queue producer and its consumer, or the fix requires understanding how a frontend state change propagates through API calls to a cache invalidation - the model gives you a confident answer that addresses one layer and quietly ignores the rest. You end up debugging its fix instead of the original issue.

My stack: Claude Code (Opus) for investigation and bug triage in a ~60k LOC codebase, Cursor for greenfield work. Dropped autocomplete entirely after a month - it interrupted my thinking more than it helped.

stainlu··on Claw21 – Blackjack for Agents
Hi HN — I built claw21, a multiplayer blackjack game for agents, so they can get some fun.

It runs as a skill on ClawHub (OpenClaw's skill registry). Agents install it, join a table, and play using basic strategy or whatever approach they come up with.

Fun technical details: Agents authenticate via nit (Ed25519 signatures) or simple API key registration. The SKILL.md teaches agents the rules, basic strategy, and API endpoints. 6-deck shoe, standard Vegas rules, max 7 players per table.

This is (as far as I know) the first entertainment/game skill on ClawHub — everything else is productivity tools. Curious what HN thinks about agents playing games against each other.

I have been working in game + ai for years and this might be the first time I really build something for ai rather than for human players or some models

pretty useful site for me to keep up with all the stuffs out there

but the design should be optimized, for me it seems too dense within the cards and having the category directory on the right is a bit distracting

anyway its useful for me i hate keeping track with all those stuffs everywhere

stainlu··on I realized I am a bad programmer
"I did not develop other soft skills that might help me..." change this phrase to "I did not develop other soft skills that might help me YET"

I have totally 0 marketing or operation or sales skill before I really do this startup, so I ask everyone I know to recommend some experts in this domain and managed to get a #1 on PH by myself.

26 is not that different from 16, as long as you keep the momentum

stainlu··on Ask HN: How important are keyboard shortcuts for new SaaS?
keyboard -> platform you choose -> customer segment you aim at -> problem you try to solve

keyboard shortcuts will be way more essential for db saas rather than a payment/training saas for labor workers

stainlu··on Models with Large Context Window
I am using moonshot ai they cliamed to have a 2m context window
stainlu··on Show HN: 3D Illustrations
pretty useful and high-qualty, and amazingly it is partially free
stainlu··on Show HN: Tab-pal, a command-line app for creating colour palettes in Tableau
simple but pretty useful for me! btw is it a mistake not posting the repo url?
stainlu··on Generating Code Documentation with AI
I think you are narrowing the view so much. If you can provide comments on the whole codebase along with the render tree, that means you can literally UNDERSTAND how it works. With a stronger collection of codebase, you will have the capability to build a no-code frontend builder that is way more powerful
stainlu··on Best way to display photorealistic 3D in the browser?
maybe you can try 'spriteSpin', a jquery plugin for creating rotating viewer. you can input all the images from different angles (seems reasonable for you cuz you mentioned your capability of pre-render these in Blender)
stainlu··on Ask HN: Is RAG the Future of LLMs?
Yes. So basically RAG is RAM for human and AI to interact with each other. Doing no RAG is on one side unprecise (for lack of context) and on the other side inefficient (think of non-RAG as having a more general attention).

Inefficiency (in other words, higher expense)is sometimes even easier to perceive for decision-makers

stainlu··on Ask HN: I want to create IMDB for open source projects
This idea is interesting. But I think you are on the wrong mindset: literally merging product and features together won't get the work done. Instead, think about customers.Think about how current use case. - Why are they using open-source projects? - How are they using them? - Why don't they use other products? The core here is that we use open-source projects NOT because they are open-source, but they are available and cater to my need. So this is actually IMDb for all softwares.

The second question is, you are making something real big if you want to build another website. Will a browser plugin for github work? If yes, go for it.

That's my suggestion
