sujinge9··on YouTube is testing a more aggressive approach against ad blockers
Not sure why it's shocking. In the same space, you pay for cable and still are shown ads. Same for movies at the theater. Though most of the ads are for new shows/movies to encourage recurring usage/payment.

So is your itinerary to go from KOA to KOA in 100 mile increments? Are there ever times when there isn't a KOA ~100 miles in the direction you want to go?
sujinge9··on How TikTok Broke the Ad Business
TikTok doesn't need to demonetize videos. They just adjust their algorithm to never show it again and it's effectively the same thing.
sujinge9··on One of France's oldest butter producers makes 380 tons per year [video]
They probably mean that the certification requires very rigid processes which means any variation would not get the stamp of approval so innovation and experimentation is discouraged.
sujinge9··on A gentler, better way to change minds
Changing someone's mind is not equivalent to making them take action that will have negative consequences.
sujinge9··on Have iPhone cameras become too smart?
Can you share what apps are? I'm highly interested. Main reason my a6000 is gathering dust is because saving to Google Photos is a pain.
sujinge9··on BMW’s New Overspray-Free Paint Works Like an Inkjet Printer
Custom embroiders/engraves are basically a way to reduce the second hand market as fewer people want to buy a luxury product with someone else's name on it.

sujinge9··on AI researcher Timnit Gebru resigns from Google
Sure, but you can't give an ultimatum like "... then I can't work here anymore" and not follow through with it.
sujinge9··on Google employees are free to speak up, except on antitrust
I feel like the judgment is asking about antitrust in an email. Leaving a paper trail on this either way is definitely poor executive judgement.
sujinge9··on Google TV
You definitely can plug it into a receiver's HDMI input port and work well. That quote only means if you still have a TV that only takes analog inputs or something, then you won't be able to plug the Chromecast in.
sujinge9··on Apple to delay privacy change threatening Facebook, mobile ad market
What are some free products that don't rely on ads?
sujinge9··on Bella Thorne, OnlyFans and the battle over monetising content
Sure, you may be able to rank your subjective values. But implying your stack ranking is more valid than someone else's is unempathetic.
sujinge9··on Bella Thorne, OnlyFans and the battle over monetising content
The value in your example is still subjective. What is the ratio of Bananas to Apples that is being traded and how much is being produced? While both are certainly willing to keep trading indefinitely, and to not do so would be catastrophic, but the actual price being paid is very subjective to the market players.
sujinge9··on Asana S-1
Sure, but it's economies of scale. You only have to do the hard stuff once at the source, instead of having every node do it individually.

Also if stuff goes wrong in the node model, the customer will blame you even if it's mostly their fault. So it's also important for brand benefits.

sujinge9··on Gmail and Google Drive Outage

sujinge9··on Ask HN: Have any of you moved back home to save money?
Pretty interesting that the biggest benefit of moving out the Bay Area is not having to worry about food. Many SV tech companies provide lunch and dinner.

sujinge9··on Elite MBA Programs Report Steep Drop in Applications
No fancy (elite) MBA takes applicants right out of college now. Harvard, for example, does identify and grant admission very promising students right out of undergrad, but makes them wait 2 years to get professional experiences through their 2+2 program.
sujinge9··on Microsoft Is Worth as Much as Apple. How Did That Happen?
That's a pretty apple to oranges comparison. iPhone sales is selling physical hardware which obviously comes with a much higher total cost then just software. A much better comparison would be from how much Apple earns from it's app store and developer fees.
