syk26··on Will machine learning outperform human curation in Apple Music?
Interesting, and with everything machine learning has been able to do so far, I guess I shouldn't be surprised if machine learning did surpass humans in curating music. But would the machine learning based curation ever present music that's innovative or "different"? I'm curious whether the curation would only present music that meets a certain criteria. And perhaps that's what it'll come down to, and maybe the algorithms will know which set of criteria best align with society at the moment and will choose music that way.
syk26··on Knuckle-cracking is actually good for you
Eh maybe I misread the article's content, but I feel like the headline should be changed to "is not bad for you". This prescriptive headline of "start cracking your knuckle because it's actually healthy for you" is so clickbaity.
syk26··on Low-income students can soon get federal aid to attend coding schools
Yea I can see that. It does make me question every government policy or "handout" that aims to promote diversity, but I'm wondering whether this government policy of providing financial aid to low income students is one that is "forcing" diversity. Could someone clarify for me?
syk26··on Low-income students can soon get federal aid to attend coding schools
Oh not at al! I don't mean diversity strictly by skin color or race. I mainly mean economically underprivileged!
syk26··on Low-income students can soon get federal aid to attend coding schools
I think there are merits to diversity but of course there are also merits to a fully meritocratic system. But I think the ideal situation would be having a fully meritocratic system that has this "diversity" attribute. I feel as though that is a step up from a fully meritocratic system that has virtually no diversity.

Also, perhaps having diversity would allow for the development of new types of products and services in the tech industry that the "privileged" have no interest in. At least that's what people who call for diversity claim.

syk26··on Low-income students can soon get federal aid to attend coding schools
I think this is a step in the right direction to address the issue of computer science education and/or coding classes only being accessible to kids from privileged backgrounds. Ultimately, if this is successful (and I know I'm wishing too much at this point), it can lead to greater diversity in the tech workforce or even in academia.
syk26··on Slow-motion replays can distort criminal responsibility
Right, but the dangerous part is that slow motion biases our judgement so that we ultimately determine an action was deliberate and planned.
syk26··on [dead]
What should Hillary stop doing? She should stop the recurring news of breached emails and all that, which keep on coming up because of poor management by the DNC, etc. (This is obviously an almost impossible task)

What should Hillary start doing? She should start talking more with Republican officials, especially in the wake of top Republican officials publicly vowing to vote for Hillary.

What should Hillary continue doing? Continue to take advantage of Trump's recent show of weaknesses. With Trump's recent mistakes with his insults to military families and "rude", "noisy" babies, there has been a whirlwind of backlash from even the Republican establishment as well. She's jumped on that and can go further with it.

syk26··on Show HN: A 65$ hardware wallet to keep your Bitcoins/ethers safe
With the recent multi-million dollar bitcoin breach (http://money.cnn.com/2016/08/03/technology/bitcoin-exchange-...), this $65 wallet seems to be worth. Good timing on the post.
syk26··on Seymour Papert has died
I made an account today, just to comment on this news. Seymour Papert's work on Constructionism really struck a chord with me. I first learned about his work in college, and things like Logo really resonated with me - to point where I have now changed my career path from an engineer to one that is more education focused. I really hope people everywhere, and at least users on this site will learn more about his work and his importance.
