systemsignal··on Ask HN: A friend has brain cancer: any bio hacks that worked?
Highly recommend looking into the work of Thomas Seyfried, the metabolic theory of cancer, press-pulse approach, glutamine targeting

Press-Pulse approach described: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7kOs6bS1Hg&t=7185s (~ keto+exercise+hyperbaric oxygen therapy+standard approaches which become more effective)

systemsignal··on Anthropic's 100k context is now available in the web UI
If you’re using google login, use a chrome shortcut.

Should keep you logged in for longer and easier to log back in.

systemsignal··on Many single Japanese people in their 20s have never been on a date – survey
America is focused on cars because it’s huge
systemsignal··on Free stuff makes us irrational
Where do you find these meetups
systemsignal··on Predicting the Timeline for Humanity to Reach Kardashev Type I Civilization
Why would it kill the planet? The same amount of sunlight energy is already falling on it, so imo it’s just utilizing this energy more effectively to benefit life
systemsignal··on TikTok is scary good. It's digital crack
Focusing on content rather than a social network.

Most videos you see on tiktok are probably not people you are following, while most on Instagram probably are

They test content on a small circle of users, if metrics are good they keep expanding

systemsignal··on Ask HN: If you used to be socially awkward and shy, how did you improve?
I’m curious how did psychedelics made you more extroverted? i.e was it less internal monologue, more energy, etc
systemsignal··on Happiness and the Art of Being (2012)
I think would probably make you more extroverted and more effective.

Here’s another perspective on similar teachings http://happinessbeyondthought.blogspot.com/2018/03/updating-...

systemsignal··on The Pied Piper of Psychedelic Toads
Have you seen this study on how psilocybin substantially reduced depression and anxiety in people with life threatening cancer?

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5367557/

Would love to know if you know anything else in the world that can do that repeatably

systemsignal··on Ask HN: What book changed your life?
Did you have to practice to achieve this or just from reading the book?
systemsignal··on Amazon announces 20-for-1 stock split, $10B buyback
Probably a lot of benefit from stock split as well as can be seen with Tesla, nvidia, apple in the past
systemsignal··on Get mock interviews now, pay when you find your next job
Anyone have advice for getting to the interview in the first place?
systemsignal··on Feds arrest couple, seize $3.6B in hacked Bitcoin funds
What makes hacking illegal?

What if they acquired the Bitcoin without using illegal means

Probably not possible in this case, but in DeFi where everything is ruled by smart contracts, what would make executing behavior allowed by those contracts illegal.

systemsignal··on Ask HN: Has anyone here successfully earning side income from an app?
What kind of marketing did you do? Or just SEO on your own product haha
systemsignal··on Selenium may explain brain boost from exercise
There’s a lot of info there, what did you want to point out?
systemsignal··on On Being Broke
Idk how you can derive that as the optimal state of capitalism

The optimal state of capitalism is where resources are being allocated so perfectly, any changes would be a net negative to society

systemsignal··on How the physics of resonance shapes reality
Why would we not have ability? Is it not in the same area where implants typically are? Could try in primates potentially too
systemsignal··on “Y Combinator is not worth it”
It’s their choice and desire, why would it be shameful to help support them…
systemsignal··on Thich Nhat Hanh has died
“Remember, the most perfect capitalist entity hires no one, pays no salaries, and only makes money for its owner.”

This would essentially be a free energy machine and would be a wonderful thing (the owner is making money because value is being provided to society)

It’s not possible though because everything needs maintenance at some point

systemsignal··on The Theoretical Minimum (2013)
Feynman Lectures are incredible and available for free!

I actually first learned about calculus from this chapter :)

systemsignal··on Bitcoin’s Dominance of Crypto Payments Is Starting to Erode
What do you mean, I doubt exchanges like Binance and FTX are insolvent
systemsignal··on How to Be Useless
Imo part of it could be the proliferation of easy money. When you see people making millions and retiring off doing nothing in crypto (buying pictures of apes) its hard to be motivated to do things. It all becomes bullshit
systemsignal··on Minitorch: Implement the Torch API from Scratch, from Cornell Tech
What language do you use?
systemsignal··on Web3 is centralized
Are you using any decentralized social networks significantly?
systemsignal··on The Bay Area has become a large declining tech company
The author is clearly heavily invested in getting ppl to Miami.

“Rarely sunny” Even in SF isn’t accurate

systemsignal··on Work/life balance should be difficult
It’s not a social fact, it’s a fact of thermodynamics.

Every system breaks down, unless it is maintained through energy/work.

At the most basic level, we need food to maintain our system. How will you get it without work?

systemsignal··on Deadly Collapse at Amazon Warehouse Puts Spotlight on Phone Ban
No but warehouse management would probably leave themselves if they knew their lives could be in danger…workers would follow

Assuming they are in the same building, which may not be the case idk

systemsignal··on Metaverse Metaverse? Metaverse
Defining the merit of work is quite hard. What makes a Picasso or Warhol valuable? Much of it seems to simply be that rich ppl became interested in it and were willing to pay a high price for it
systemsignal··on Crypto CEO threatens customers after mistakenly sending them millions
What makes it stolen property? If the smart contract allowed it…
systemsignal··on Crypto CEO threatens customers after mistakenly sending them millions
How is it fraud if the smart contract allowed it?

Actually curious what makes it fraud. Just because one group wants the money back?
