Log-lost diary of German officer Alfred Rosenberg vindicates his testimony at Nuremburg.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/long-lost-diary-of-nazi...

> Scholars had been eager to see what this longtime Nazi from Hitler’s inner circle had to say in the missing journal. But details of the Nazis’ grand plans for genocide and brutal domination are absent from the pages.

Rosenberg testified in Nuremberg that there was no such plan for the wholesale murder and eradication of the Jewish race, and that the idea had never even crossed his mind. In other words, the only plans the Germans had was to expel the Jews from their territory. Nonetheless, he was not believed and sentenced to execution by the court.

A bug fix is not a breaking change. You are speaking in tautologies. "A bug fix is a change that is a change to the API". No, bug fix does not change the interface. A bug fix does not change the API. It does not require a semantic version change unless it also changes the expected behavior of the method, in which case it is a change in the documentation, which is part of the application programming interface.
t3soro··on Be Nice and Write Stable Code
Thanks for that pedantic insight, doc.

It's patently obvious that API compatibility is a computable problem. You are just checking if API1 is a subset of API2.

Even if foo() never returns, the Application Programming Interface is unchanged if the function signature is the same.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing it!
t3soro··on Twitter ‘smytes’ customers
The argument that penalties should be paid out of the purchase price would probably hold water. When Smyte entered into those contracts they took on some duty to honor them and to suddenly dishonor them and divert all the assets out of the company so that penalties wouldn't ve avoided would be constructive fraud.
t3soro··on YAML: probably not so great after all (2017)
EDN is nice, but the curly brackets are a hassle when editing configs. That's why I prefer using yaml to configure my Clojure apps.
t3soro··on Will Kubernetes Collapse Under the Weight of Its Complexity?
It's probably a bad idea to run a whole cluster on your laptop anyways. I never understood that practice. Just set up a server/mini-cluster and use that for development to host your ancillary services like RabbitMQ or whatever else you need. Then run the app you're actually developing, and only that, on your laptop.

> some people want an egalitarian project rather than an authoritarian one

Plenty of us prefer the authoritarian model, rather than the chaotic model of arbitrary consensus.

t3soro··on Teacher in Ghana has no computers so he draws Microsoft Word on the blackboard
These guys don't need computers, what the hell is anyone going to do with Microsoft Word experience in a place with no electricity or computers, besides LEAVE? They would be just as well off using typewriters.

They need an entire economy.

t3soro··on Monero Declares War on ASIC Manufacturers
It's not, though. You have the R&D costs of the ASIC, which you don't have to sell to the public, or can run them on your own schedule before releasing them for sale.
t3soro··on Government to borrow nearly $1 trillion this year 84 percent jump from last year
The government borrows by selling treasury bonds, then the Fed buys them and keeps them on their books, and the Treasury gets US currency in exchange.

The Fed can also buy other assets besides T-bills and use them to back new issuance of US currency notes.

t3soro··on Did Bitcoin just prove it can't scale?
The bank would have no capital to lend at fractional reserve. It could not lend out 90% deposit value without getting run on, because there is no deposit insurance. There is no M1 money supply growth coming from the central bank. You would be buying a bond but also necessarily acknowledging the possibility of default, unlike today in the funny money world of perpetual debt money.

t3soro··on Are We Experimenting on Our Children with Soy Formula?
Asians who eat much soy probably have evolved a different response to it than other populations. Similar to how northern Europeans evolved better lactose digestion than the rest of the world.

t3soro··on Is Clojure dying, and what has Ruby got to do with it?
Clojure, and lisp in general, tends to avoid the "framework" way of thinking prevalent among object-oriented languages. It's therefore no surprise that something like Rails hasn't taken off.

There are, however, libraries and patterns which are very common, ring for example.

t3soro··on Bitcoin arbitrage without market risk
It would be dangerous to run this open source code, also, since your program could be manipulated with precision timing attacks, if it were to be fooled into making a bid at a price flash. There is in fact plenty of technical risk. Caveat emptor!
t3soro··on Bitcoin arbitrage without market risk
The reason this doesn't profit is because the spread tends not to exceed the difference in exchange fees. So while there may be a $1 spread between two exchanges, the sum total of two 0.5% exchange fees on a $1000 coin will only net the exchange profits in fees, and you might earn a penny.
