tW4r··on A contentEditable, pasted garbage and caret placement walk into a pub
Is there any way to force which gets chosen? I love being able to copy and image and just paste it to WhatsApp/Messenger/Whichever other client, but if I do copy an image from the internet it’s very hit or miss if it shows up as an image when I paste, or a link. If I download the image, and then copy the downloaded one, it always shows up as an image
tW4r··on RAWGraphs: missing link between spreadsheets and data visualization
Now this is a "s/Facebook/Hacker News is tracking my life" coincidence. Just today I was looking to convert a CSV into a graph and came upon this exact site

tW4r··on Previews of software updates designed for people with disabilities
There’s a startup [1] that I don’t think has shipped yet, but they have a great idea about using nerve conductance sensors to use hand gestures to control the watch. Looks pretty exciting

tW4r··on Clubhouse data leak: 1.3M user records leaked online for free
How so? It is exactly the data you see when you open any clubhouse profile in the app

Almost as if there was an endpoint /profiles/id that someone just scrapped by using id 0..9999999999

Likewise, it’s insane how the hacker community create software that is so complex yet of high quality. However, I believe the time with M1 is slowly running out
tW4r··on Super-expressive – Write regex in natural language
I think this is great for maintainability. I saw a blog post earlier advocating for using long form arguments in scripts, "—-help" instead of "-h"

The same applies here, as "/\d/" might be as recognisable for regex savvy developers as "ls -l" for bash savvy, but for other maintainers not as familiar this makes it way easier to maintain the code

tW4r··on New ‘Action Roguelike’ C++ Project on GitHub
When I first read this I hoped this would be a rogue like game implemented using GitHub Actions somehow

tW4r··on I Built a Smart Thermostat

tW4r··on I Built a Smart Thermostat
Do you perhaps have recommendations on how to control:

1x central heater with:

.. state: on or off

.. actions on or off

Nx Temperature regulator valves

.. state: current temp, target temp, percentage open

.. actions: set target temp only

What control loop do I use to control the central heater on|off based on the state of the TRVs? To maintain distinct temperatures in different zones’ TRVs

tW4r··on Europe's night trains are on track for a resurgence
I would love to use trains more in Europe, but their prices cannot compete with cheap flight providers at all, 30ish EUR flights pretty much from any country to any country in Europe are hard to beat
tW4r··on Camouflaged Military Bunkers of Switzerland (2015)
Yes, that is why Chinese military for example has a lot of catching up to do to us, cause whatever your idea is about the efficiency of the military, they have been constantly involved in many conflicts after the Second World War

tW4r··on Avoiding Bash frustration – Use Python for shell scripts
I regularly use node for my scripts as it’s installed on all my machines and I know the language. Not saying you should choose node specifically, choose anything you’re comfortable with as the shebang [1] is a beautiful thing
