tabrischen··on Google’s Project Fi now caps data bills at $60
In the article it does say: The bill protection feature includes international data (which is always included) and also applies to data-only plans for laptops, tablets and cars.
tabrischen··on TheFacebook.com’s darker side (2004)
Is that why I keep getting those Asian egg donor ads on Facebook ?
tabrischen··on An Anonymous Satire of Silicon Valley Now Has a Publisher
Putting this on my wishlist for Christmas. It's an interesting project, illustrating a very particular insular type of culture
tabrischen··on Local and organic is a romantic myth
I don't understand why this is not scalable. Even in the bay area, where there is high population density and the price of living is one of the highest in the world, there are tons of farmer's markets everywhere.

Technology which improves transportation aid local food production even more.

tabrischen··on Signal for Android: RedPhone and TextSecure in one app
Unfortunately when I used Redphone previously the call quality is pretty bad. The volume of the call would get screwed up and I know it's not to do with the signals (lol) because I would hang up and call the person back without redphone and it would work perfectly.
tabrischen··on Computer, Respond to This Email
When you receive a call today, you are already prompted with auto response messages such as 'I'm busy, I'll call you back.' This seems like the natural next step.
tabrischen··on Spot the Ball
This is very fun for me, even as someone who's not a sports fan. Great way to engage this other segment of readers.
tabrischen··on Duolingo Raises $45M, Now Valued at $470M
Or maybe Klingon ?
tabrischen··on Duolingo Raises $45M, Now Valued at $470M
Have been a fan of Duolingo for a long time. I see it as an important enabler of people who're aspiring hypergots or polygots. I can't wait for Esperanto to become available within the app.
tabrischen··on 500 years ago, a German abbot wrote a book on communication with spirits (1998)
Who says the Germans have no sense of humor ?
tabrischen··on No Longer an Inspiration
Agreed.

Different people may have different reasons for going to hackathons. For some, it may be to practise their skills at solving more technical problems and for others it may be simply to validate an idea, for which a wix side and a PDF are perfectly reasonable MVPs.

It's a great thing idea to set aside categories to encourage participation for novice / beginners to hackathons. We all have to start somewhere, perhaps the author forgot that she herself was in a similar situation just a few months ago.

tabrischen··on Gyroscope: A personal site powered by your life
Dear @aprilzero, I'm loving the dashboard. Hope you can add in more integration with other services, like kanbanflow for productivity (it comes with a nifty pomodoro timer) and miband for fitness.
tabrischen··on What It's Like Working for TaskRabbit
Would be interesting to read about the weirdest jobs these taskrabbiters had taken, but would not be surprised if there is already a subreddit for that.
tabrischen··on The new MacBook
Agreed. My first instinct is why is this in gold? Why is everything in gold?
tabrischen··on Huawei Watch
Still waiting for a version of smartwatch built for females.
tabrischen··on Sortie en mer – A trip out to sea
It would be interesting to see full length feature films developed in this technique.
tabrischen··on BitcoinEmissions – A project to calculate CO2 emissions of mining bitcoin
Tendermint proposed a solution to the 'nothing at stake' problem with the concept of bond deposit. Check out the whitepaper at http://tendermint.com/
tabrischen··on Google Domains Launches to All in U.S
Agreed. On the website, it mentions that it'll integrate with Blogger, Shopify, Squarespace, Weebly and Wix. Integration with App Engine would be a big selling point.
tabrischen··on Throw Away Your Television
What happens when a brogrammer writes a self-improvement blog. I like the style.
tabrischen··on Places to Go in 2015
So excited to see my hometown, Chengdu, listed. It's a great place to visit, rich heritage, amazing food and not to mention, pandas!
tabrischen··on Meditation Is Garbage Collection for Your Mind
This is very helpful, thanks !
tabrischen··on How to Become a Hacker (2001)
I remember reading this about 10 years ago, feeling old now.
tabrischen··on The Pirate Bay Mystery
What is the reddit link?
tabrischen··on Meditation Is Garbage Collection for Your Mind
I like the analogy as a hook and lead in but a bit disappointed to find the actual content a bit lacking, but perhaps that's the point?

Would be helpful to include a brief summary of the three different practises of Vipassana or insight medidation as a whole just to provide an introduction.

tabrischen··on JavaScript in 2015
( and if not, an invite to your next rooftop party would probably suffice )
tabrischen··on JavaScript in 2015
'I really would love to see a youtube of a DJ hooked up to automatically synced GIFs. ' Yes, this please !
tabrischen··on Show HN: Bubbles – A minimalist visualization of what's new on Twitter
especially numbers that are contextless. right now one of the biggest bubbles are 1 and 2.
tabrischen··on Show HN: Bubbles – A minimalist visualization of what's new on Twitter
It might be interesting to do a separate one just on Instagram. I have no idea what half of the trending hashtags on Instagram means and a picture speaks a thousand words.
tabrischen··on How My Mom Got Hacked
What do you call the opposite of clickbait? I thought the article was more interesting than I originally expected.
tabrischen··on William Gibson: How I wrote Neuromancer
Considering that Darren Aronofsky is adapting Margaret Atwood's 'MaddAddam’ book Trilogy as a HBO series, a Sprawl Trilogy could very well be a distant reality.
