tarouter··on Introducing Outlook.com - Modern Email for the Next Billion Mailboxes
I was happy to see the interface and tried to sign up. Outlook.com would not let me set my password bigger than 16 characters. wtf?
tarouter··on Twice a Century, India is Attacked by a Plague of Rats
Title sounds a little bit misleading. :) It only happens in tiny Indian state of Mizoram. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:India_Mizoram_locator_map....

From the article - "more than 26,000 square kilometres throughout the north-eastern state of Mizoram, extending into the Chin Hills of Burma and the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh"

tarouter··on Help HN: Want to build small web app for learning and side income.
I'm in the same boat with similar skill set. Do you want to get-together on IM for some brainstorming? May be we can work together on something. Contact is in the profile, if you are interested.
tarouter··on Ask HN: Who's hiring? (September 2010)
where do I email you? your profile does not seem to have your email address.
tarouter··on Ask HN: Please Checkout My Startup: zferral.com (Custom Affiliate Programs)
One trivial suggestion - "Your existing customers may be your most effective salespeople." => "Your existing customers ARE your most effective salespeople." I'm sure you are sure, aren't you? Why not the world know that with confidence.
tarouter··on 6 Web App Ideas Off My Chest
Thanks for pointing out this website! I was looking for similar website to encourage bunch of 30 something friends to exercise. How do they earn money? What is the business model here?
tarouter··on Rate my startup: The simplest webpage annotation and collaboration tool
I love it. compared to any other web clipping service I have tried so far. One question - how do I delete my clips?
tarouter··on Ask HN: How much does it cost to outsource iPhone app development?
I remember having read this story about a girl who outsourced her app to canada for 800$ and earned upwards of 8000$ selling it. The app was about a popular game played by girls. I know I'm being too vague but I specifically remember this - 1) Canadian developer 2) Was developed for 800$ 3) It was a popular game app for girls I hope that provide some useful data points to consider. It was published in one of hacker/entrepreneurship related websites/blogs which probably many of you frequent and might have seen the story. Anyone got a link?
tarouter··on Failin.gs
I love the idea. It's very good for people who can take criticism. It's up to you after all which criticism to ignore and which to take seriously. It should be made easier for other to post opinions about you by integrating this into some famous application (e.g. facebook app, blog widget, etc).
tarouter··on Ask YC: Review my webapp coded in the past few days
Got it! sorry didn't see it before.
tarouter··on Ask YC: Review my webapp coded in the past few days
Very cool idea though! I love it! I can think of at least 50 bollywood songs right now which I can submit. I'm sure many music lovers will know much examples on top of their heads.
tarouter··on Ask YC: Review my webapp coded in the past few days
How about let users submit songs which sounds alike? e.g. This bollywood song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kxd6po6wL4w) music is totally alike this 'final countdown' song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_IKcMl_a9A
tarouter··on Ask HN: Has anyone seen Shark Tank (VCs are sharks)?
I rewind and hear this remark again and again. Because the Sharks seemed to be taken aback a little after hearing it. But I didn't quite understand this remark. Can somebody please explain to me?
tarouter··on Ask HN: Review my start-up: Customized Graphics
Great idea! Great execution! About 2 above. It may help to see how job websites make clear distinction between job seekers and employers. How elance.com makes clear distinction between clients and freelancers.
tarouter··on Offshoring in 2020 500 Billion $ - McKinsey report
For the benefit of those who don't want to register, here is the brief - India leads the world in providing offshore services in business and technology, with revenues of $58 billion in 2008, out of a global total of $80 billion. McKinsey estimates this is just the beginning: the global market for offshore business and technology services could grow to about $500 billion by 2020. Yet even with this growth, the industry will still serve less than 1/3 of the potential market for these services, which McKinsey estimates at $1.65 trillion to $1.80 trillion in 2020.
tarouter··on Ask HN: moving to US
I think patio11 has some excellent advice. On top of that, why not partner with someone who is already in US? That way you can have benefits of (one co-founder) being in India and benefits of (other co-founder) being in US. I live in US and I would love to explore options to partner someone in India. Being Indian myself, I know that there are some business models which have very good potential and require presence in India and US both. e.g. selling westerns clothes (with traditional india designs) made in india over web. I have other ideas too, some geeky, some not-so-geeky. If you are interested, send me a one liner on 'my HN user name' at gmail dot com. we can share some ideas and may be collaborate if we hit it off.
tarouter··on Ask HN: How do you record your thoughts?
I used to use google notepad. But since google doesn't support it any more, I thought, it's a good idea to switch. I started using evernote after that. They make it very easy to import your existing entries from google notepad too.
tarouter··on Ask HN: Best word to describe this process?
how about handpick?
