techbrovanguard··on 'We used acid to sabotage Microsoft hyperscale data centre construction'
I concur.
techbrovanguard··on Unicode's transliteration rules are Turing-complete
shut up, clanker. nobody asked.
techbrovanguard··on Raspberry Pi Pico W as USB Wi-Fi Adapter
won’t somebody please think of the billion dollar company?
techbrovanguard··on C++: The Documentary
> C is an abstraction of the machine, so thin it's nearly transparent.

Looks like someone fell for the C abstract machine trap yet again. No, C is isn’t an abstraction of the machine.

techbrovanguard··on I spent years trying to make CSS states predictable
For every complex problem there is a solution that is clear, simple, and wrong.
techbrovanguard··on The PowerShell-Haters Handbook
This is not the gotcha you think it is. Nobody that has used C++ in a non-trivial setting would regurgitate that Stroustrup quote unironically. C++, much like Powershell, is a warcrime of a language.

I'll give it up to Powershell though, it actually had some good ideas... albeit with awful execution. Can't say the same about C++.

techbrovanguard··on Why craft-lovers are losing their craft
“Don’t ask questions, just consume Product and then get excited for next Product”.
techbrovanguard··on My “grand vision” for Rust
By all means, write some Go instead—you might want to order a new `if err != nil` button to stave off the RSI. The rest of us are trying to make things better.
techbrovanguard··on Nobody gets promoted for simplicity
Touch some grass, friend.
techbrovanguard··on Welcoming Discord users amidst the challenge of Age Verification
You can’t pay me to use Matrix, it’s irredeemable trash.
techbrovanguard··on We mourn our craft
"ai is inevitable, stop resisting" — claude marketing department. if it was so invertible, why are you funding these psyops?
techbrovanguard··on The browser catches homograph attacks, the terminal doesn't
Handy! I feel like this should be built into the terminal emulator though?
techbrovanguard··on Why Go is not my favourite language
From my reading, almost all of it.
techbrovanguard··on Samsung releases new all-in-one heat pump for residential use
You cannot pay me to use a Samsung product. They’ve irreparably damaged my perception of South Korean technology. I implore anyone here to stay clear.
techbrovanguard··on Statement by Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands,Norway,Sweden,UK
Does the law require them to kill civilians?
techbrovanguard··on Dude, where's my supersonic jet?
> i asked claude

techbrovanguard··on Microsoft Office renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app”
microslop
techbrovanguard··on 'Ghost jobs' are on the rise – and so are calls to ban them
translated: stop questioning why the economy depends on the Infant Crushing Machine continuing to Crush Infants
techbrovanguard··on The Mysterious Forces Steering Views on Hacker News
None of this is surprising, YC is as incestuous as the rest of the industry. Still, it’s worth calling out. This submission will likely be nuked, too.
techbrovanguard··on Linux Kernel Rust Code Sees Its First CVE Vulnerability
If you do something stupid in a block marked "unsafe", it's probably on you, my guy.
techbrovanguard··on Linux Kernel Rust Code Sees Its First CVE Vulnerability
Posting this from a green account is just pathetic, my guy. Go outside, touch some grass.
techbrovanguard··on Uv is the best thing to happen to the Python ecosystem in a decade
oh look, the average golang fan. here’s a challenge for you: explain _why_ the complexity is bad without:

- resorting to logical fallacies, or

- relying on your unstated assumption that all complexity is bad

techbrovanguard··on HTTPS by default
You understand that key rotation can and should be automated, right?
techbrovanguard··on 10M people watched a YouTuber shim a lock; the lock company sued him – bad idea

techbrovanguard··on The state of the Rust dependency ecosystem
this is almost certainly ai slop
techbrovanguard··on Let us git rid of it, angry GitHub users say of forced Copilot features
what “work” are you doing, you parasitic hack?
techbrovanguard··on Protobuffers Are Wrong (2018)
i used protobuffers a lot at $previous_job and i agree with the entire article. i feel the author’s pain in my bones. protobuffers are so awful i can’t imagine google associating itself with such an amateur, ad hoc, ill-defined, user hostile, time wasting piece of shit.

the fact that protobuffers wasn’t immediately relegated to the dustbin shows just how low the bar is for serialization formats.

techbrovanguard··on Ask HN: What are your current programming pet peeves?
i tried to submit a patch to retroarch and it was one of the least pleasant experiences i've had in a while. makefile hell, layers and layers of incomprehensible macros, and spaghetti code everywhere. no thank you. i may be a masochist but i still respect my time.
techbrovanguard··on Introducing tmux-rs
