Hey, there are rules to split the loot honorably. This is totally unacceptable!
Using AI appropriately and efficiently and safely is a skill. Similar to using a mechanized excavator. It can do the work 10x faster but it can also do a lot of damage quickly as well.
Those who don't realize this and not adapt to the new skill set required by the industry will lose their jobs. It will cause a loss/atrophy of prior skills and development of new skills but that is inevitable.
Those who have the prior set of skills do have an advantage over those who don't have them. But the new set of required skills can be developed without having the earlier ones too. The most proficient in the new set of skills may or may not be the ones that were most proficient in the old skills.
Obviously, those who use little or no AI will not be able to deliver as much as those who do. But as long as you become the person who is responsible and show a track record off mitigating things quickly and professionally and able to take responsibility, it will accelerate career progression really fast.
There will be exceptions, of course, like in systems/software where lives are dependent on it or laws are super strict on the software working exactly as expected, but those are going to be exceptions that prove the general rule.
I would do it myself if given a chance. I would spend a sizable chunk, say up to $2000 per month if this is allowed. I do value my time way more than that and if I can save time using AI that the company is not willing to pay for, I will gladly do that.
Given that about a third of the voters are fully in support of this, and likely about similar numbers are oblivious, I expect that nothing will be done about it once this admin goes out of power.
Maybe a few people will be made scapegoats to pacify the third that want justice (likely low level/weak ones), but the top level of perpetrators will be untouched and keep most of the loot.
Understanding the problem space is becoming more valuable. Strength in architecture of a solution is another skill that is becoming very valuable.
We are close to getting to a point where someone with overall general (and perhaps not very detailed) understanding of arch and design and a good understanding of the problem space and having a good taste in usability will be able to create awesome solutinos.
I can't wait to see these solutions being created by one or two person teams.
Eventually, it will lead to a genocide. Once it is all done, there will be a large body of research into how this happened. The primary purpose of it will be to feel good and pat ourselves on the back with how civilized we are.
Then we in the West will move on and try to find another group that we will like to hate.
The more things change, the more they remain the same.
If the current world order is reconfigured, America has the most to lose.
I know that no world order is forever, the US has a vested interest in the stability of the current world order and keep it as long as possible.
What changed with the "free" money handouts is that the price point that market can bear increased resulting in higher profit margins than before. Supply limitations and shortages played a part as well as increased cash and hence demand from people.
As this excess savings and money dries out, the equilibrium price point will move the profit margins back to long term averages although it is a slow process.
FDIC doesn't claw back bank transactions that have "settled". So if you wire cleared, you are good for the money.
Search for "FDIC Discretion Without Ongoing Judicial Oversight" in the document below
No ongoing judicial oversight Pursuant to Section 11(d)(13)(D) of the FDI Act, except as otherwise provided, no court has primary jurisdiction over any claims or action for payment from, or actions seeking a determination with regards to, an institution for which the FDIC has become a receiver. Further this provision also limits courts’ ability to engage in a review of any claims relating to acts or omissions of the institution or the FDIC as receiver. Under Section 11(d)(13)(C) of the FDI Act, no court may issue an attachment or execution over the assets that are in the possession of the FDIC as receiver.

That's why I see only Google Reviews to be in the best position in this category. It is not perfect but way way better in terms of incentives etc. compared to Yelp and its ilk.
It's primary value for Google is the huge moat that it provides against Apple maps where Apple is dependent on the crappy Yelp reviews. I say crappy in the sense of terrible incentives as mentioned in the OP I am replying to. This poisons the whole review system of Yelp and Apple maps by association.
