tedeh··on Meta’s new commercial terms will allow the scraping of news sites: experts
That's terror. Terror built into the system.
tedeh··on Transfer files over an Ethernet patch cable
Well I have to add that was interesting too. Because I remember you had to hold the ends up next to each other and compare the order of the colored wires. Same order left-to-right, not cross-over. Anything else, cross-over.
tedeh··on The Family Keeping Watch over a 52-Year-Old Pot of Soup
Its on Ekkamai rd, "Wattana Panich"
tedeh··on After 20 years I turned off Google Adsense for my websites (2025)
That's to be expected. Google needs that money to fund the AI development that will enable them to replace creators with their own slop, allowing them to pocket 100 % instead of sharing anything at all.
tedeh··on Winners of the 2026 Kokuyo Design Awards
The article is filled with jarring sentences like this:

"Rather than buying a notebook, you complete it—turning a passive object into an active, personal process."

tedeh··on Claw code reaches 100k stars on GitHub in 1 day
Okay, well I guess clout-chasing was the whole point, as evidenced by the Github repo front page going on about "star counts" all over. Great job, who cares?
tedeh··on Parallel coding agents with tmux and Markdown specs
I don't think it is unreasonable to ask where all the great AI built software is. There has been comments here on HN about people becoming 30 to 50 times more productive than before.

To put a statement like that into perspective (50 times more productive): The first week of the year about as much was accomplished as the whole previous year put together.

tedeh··on A change of address led to our Wise accounts being shut down
I can confirm that this is the exact method recommended in forums where people and businesses that meet adversity from banks on a daily basis (most of the time for completely legitimate businesses, sometimes not) congregate to share advice.

The point is to feed the compliance critters exactly what they want so they can tick their boxes without sticking their necks out.

tedeh··on Danish Study: No link between vaccines and autism or other health conditions
Fear of needles
tedeh··on Klarna changes its AI tune and again recruits humans for customer service
Klarna hasnt even gone public yet...
tedeh··on Publishers say traffic to their sites has plummeted due to Google AI Overviews
I can't see any reason why Google would send traffic anyones way in the future. "Search results" will turn into a "Citations" list at the bottom of the page for the excessively curious, and probably look like it does on a page like Wikipedia. Meanwhile 98 % of the "results" page will be AI-generated and ad-ridden. Ads will be inserted into the AI content as recommendations because why not?
tedeh··on China tells its AI leaders to avoid U.S. travel over security concerns
When did Sam Altman last visit China?
tedeh··on A pro-science, pro-progress, techno-optimistic health textbook from 1929
Fear of needles and having your skin pierced is my guess, at least for some.
tedeh··on The decline and fall of the British economy (2022)
Not mentioned more because it probably just wasn't that important.
tedeh··on The ChatGPT wrapper product boom is an uncanny valley hellscape
It's a fascinating thought that so much of all online content is created for the consumption of bots instead of humans. Because the bots are the gatekeepers to what gets shown to real humans, the bots need to be pleased first.
tedeh··on GPT-4o's Memory Breakthrough – Needle in a Needlestack
I'm just glad that we are finally past the "Who was the 29th president of the United States" and "Draw something in the style of Van Gogh" LLM evaluation test everyone did in 2022-2023.
tedeh··on Dubai's Planned $32B Mega Airport Project
Dubai never had much oil
tedeh··on Vultr is now claiming full perpetual commercial rights over all hosted content
I'm guessing they're about to make some kind of generative-AI play and need access to more data.
tedeh··on YouTube: The End of the MrBeast Era
This is how authentic YT was in the early days: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElXi7yDHyWo
tedeh··on Tell HN: Upgrade your Metabase installation
Ha, I was just about to go in here and say the same thing.

"Fortunately" some "white hat" hacker contacted us last year about another Metabase exploit. I gave him a 30 USD tip and ended up doing exactly what you are suggesting.

Now I'm glad that means I don't need to interrupt my vacation to fix this thing right now.

tedeh··on The hidden cost of air quality monitoring
This comment saved me from just ordering a IQAir outdoor monitor. Great timing. I'd like an outdoor unit that supports PoE (which the IQAir monitor has) because I'm definitely not going around replacing batteries all the time, but that seems hard to come by, so I might have to give up my attempts at measuring air pollution from the side of my house.
tedeh··on Parents in Ireland town to voluntarily ban smartphones for kids as old as 13
I don't think so. The Home PC generation is way more technically literate than the generation after that grew up with the smartphone, where the elementary interaction has been reduced to just three basic steps that always work: 1) lift and look at phone 2) swipe finger up 3) press the dopamine er - Instagram - button
tedeh··on Facebook LLAMA is being openly distributed via torrents
GPT-3 cost a few million dollars in compute to train from what I know.
tedeh··on Convert SimCity 2000 cities into Minecraft worlds
This reminds me a lot of SimCopter (1996) where you could also import your SC2k city and fly around and do missions. Mostly about helping people in various forms of distress by picking them up and flying to various destinations. Great flashback from 90's gaming, I remember tossing people out at random when flying which was always hilarious when you're a young kid. You could then pick them up and fly them to the hospital to get fixed up.

But I must say I think the original SimCopter looks slightly better graphically than this Minecraft version.

You can play SimCity 2000 online here, by the way:

tedeh··on The Lazy Monad
I'm pretty sure a monad is just an endoid in the category of monofunctors?
tedeh··on Cloudflare have made it impossible for me to unsubscribe from marketing emails
Never take crap like this, just "Report spam" if there is no option to directly unsubscribe with a single click.

tedeh··on SQL: The difference between WHERE and HAVING
To be fair you will have the same problem if you ever change the name of the alias.
