testfrequency··on Grace Hopper Celebration Cancelled
You clearly do not work in Tech. Grace Hopper has been around for decades, and companies have understood how important it is for furthering their industries.

This is absolutely the US Gov to blame for its DEI attacks and threats.

testfrequency··on OpenAI engineer arrested in bugging of executive conference room
I’ve been wondering the same.

This isn’t uncommon, but it’s rare this info is shared in such detail publicly..possibly to make an example.

testfrequency··on New Apple TV 4K
I don’t disagree, the pricing for their titles is painful - especially compared to Steam discounts.

That said, Apple has been attempting for years to make Apple Arcade a hit.

testfrequency··on A Dynamic and Distributed Virtual GPU Cloud Built on Idle Apple Silicon Devices
I built something very adjacent to this right before leaving Apple, same name, handed off to my team.

I’m very curious if that project evolved to this……..going to message a few friends now heh

testfrequency··on New Apple TV 4K
Current rumor is Apple (Beats) may be releasing a controller soon, and with that I’d assume that + price they are testing the waters with bringing AAA to the Apple TV.
testfrequency··on Nvidia in talks to acquire US 'open' model startup Reflection AI
America is only capable of acquihiring and not progressing on raw intelligence it seems. The stagnation is strong. Economic crash 2027 looming.
testfrequency··on OpenAI fires three safety researchers for "mishandling research information"
Except, the BBC headline is more respectful and clear as to what happened..TC is a bit vague
testfrequency··on California closed the Montana license plate loophole
HN crowd used to hate the rich.

Now comments like this, defending losers with lambos, are seen as admirable.

testfrequency··on Show HN: Germany's new sovereign AI model Kolibri
TIL
testfrequency··on Two-tier encryption in the UK
Why are we comparing Switzerland? Do you want to try again with the United States?

Let me give it a go; Switzerland has higher gun homicides than the UK.

testfrequency··on Two-tier encryption in the UK
The chronically online anti-uk folks like to turn a blind eye to anything that’s justifiable for matter of principal.

It’s why the US has such a problem with gun control and laws.

I could argue everyone should have guns, and it’s just bad people, right?

testfrequency··on Grok 4.7
What is the most secure way to use this model as someone who is lazy
testfrequency··on Garry Tan wants US open-weight AI labs to 'distill' frontier models, too
OAI and Anthropic remain the biggest heist ever in our lifetime.

Genuinely fucking crazy we pay money for fast access to autocomplete of stolen human remains.

testfrequency··on iPhone Duo
Based on rumours Samsung finally cracked the secret on removing creases…iPhone is just the latest model on the market with the technology from them.

That said..I believe I’ve also seen some Chinese models ready claim this.

testfrequency··on Apple Watch Ultra 4
My understanding is it’s E2E transcribed dictation via PCC? Is that not the case?
testfrequency··on iPhone Duo
Still use mine!

I will say it was a pain in the ass to open and answer calls though when you were busy doing things.

testfrequency··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
I should have been more clear. You have to give reasons why, as in - if your identity is at risk, legal issues, company concerns..etc. This was the push back my friends and I have joked about (only two so far who have made this request).

The request is not taken at face value, you have to have it approved.

testfrequency··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
Per friends who have done this, you apparently need to explain why and have reasons™. It’s not just a quick “hi forget me” request. All of which I find a bit absurd.
testfrequency··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
You can’t even do that with your HN account..you think Flock, with its lucrative gov contracts…would ever?
testfrequency··on Flock Wants a Closely Surveilled World with No Exit
Welcome to the thunder dome. YC is not our friends, they just host what (was) a niche forum where early tech peeps could have mostly civil conversations. It’s become increasingly hostile in moderation and sharp political opinions, that a lot of the joy here has fumbled out. (sorry mod team..I know you deal with a lot and traffic/spam keeps growing).
testfrequency··on WeatherNext 3
Honestly, the iOS weather app is hyper accurate I’ve found in Europe in comparison to America…

It really does come down to data source quality and access…that’s the crux of it.

testfrequency··on Grok outage
Future Show HN Post: “Hi I’m Foobar. I own Grok, Claude, and ChatGPT. It all runs on my Plex server at home. AMA!”
testfrequency··on Elevated Errors for Multiple Models
If only every outage was due to “demand”.
testfrequency··on Saab has unveiled its A3 collaborative combat aircraft concept
Incredible to see this in modern years still performing so well.

The only Saab story I see is one of innovation and dreaming. Ugh, I miss my 9-3 so much. I still get a kick out of seeing Saabs on the road to this day. Lots of respect to the owners, who I’m sure many continue to live with theirs as they adore it.

testfrequency··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
Project Panama [0]

Must be helpful that your company is slurping and destroying literature, how sad that the results of this are a blog post with “look how well we write English”. Eye roll.

Could not be happier about my decision to turn down a job offer from Anthropic years ago. Ick.

testfrequency··on Dyson CameraJet electric toothbrush
Their headphones with the air filtration was pretty wild, and surprisingly the headphones themselves are very comfortable and sound great.
testfrequency··on Saab has unveiled its A3 collaborative combat aircraft concept
Rare moment on HN where I can share that I had a 9-3 Viggen. Such a wonderful car, wish I didn’t need to sell at the time.
testfrequency··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
+1. I have a maxed out M2 Ultra Mac Studio that has aged incredibly well. I’ve yet to be tempted by any recent benchmarks, and I keep feeling like they’ve yet to produce their groundbreaking leap silicon since.
testfrequency··on The UK's war on anonymity has come to America
Safety is one topic, but this person is also discussing censorship and corruption.

As much as I like visiting China for leisure, I could personally never live there. I agree the healthcare and safety are great in China though. It’s the same reasons I could never live in places like Dubai or Singapore.

Safety is not a #1 priority for me in the places I choose to live.

testfrequency··on The UK's war on anonymity has come to America
Where in the world is your ideal country, that is doing everything right. Genuinely curious as it sounds like you want accessible weapons + unfiltered reach of speech with no side effects.
