thesmtsolver2··on Alleged Chinese spy had 'close relationship' with Nvidia boss Jensen Huang
Hilarious

China ranks 178 out of 180 in press freedom. How are you then getting plenty of information that is accurate?

thesmtsolver2··on Alleged Chinese spy had 'close relationship' with Nvidia boss Jensen Huang
Wasn’t it originally in NYT? Yeah, don’t expect much from NYT nowadays.
thesmtsolver2··on Meta employees said Lula's accounts were hindered during Brazil election
If you can't deduce the simple connection between the two topics, maybe try reading the actual article?

FYI: real dictators don't get shut off from their accounts for years

thesmtsolver2··on Mortality Among People with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
Nah, best we can do is idiots saying ADHD is not real (on both sides).

Or Tenderloin in SF.
thesmtsolver2··on Woman charged with computer fraud due to scam CashApp account being in her name
A lot of roads have tolls. Don’t forget more specific taxes like gas taxes or vehicle registration and sales taxes.
thesmtsolver2··on Recent AI models struggled to match a human algorithmic innovation
> Swarm of 10000 agents is a massive smart force

Yep, that's how Euler, Gôdel, etc. proved their theorems, both easy and difficult ones.

They trawled through the search space just like a swarm of 10000 agents.

thesmtsolver2··on Recent AI models struggled to match a human algorithmic innovation
Do you write 10,000 drafts before deciding to send an important mail?
thesmtsolver2··on Recent AI models struggled to match a human algorithmic innovation
It is a spectrum.

Godel, Euler, Ramanujam, etc. didn't burn millions of dollars or drudged through search space like OpenAI's agent do to prove what they need.

Let's not forget using Lean as a crutch throughout the way rather than as a final tool for formalization and verification.

thesmtsolver2··on A city-building game in which the city would prefer you didn't
Agreed.

Open immigration for rest of the country from around the world but closed for their city from rest of the country is what these “progressives” seem to want by their actions.

thesmtsolver2··on Recent AI models struggled to match a human algorithmic innovation
It will cook only as long as brute force through search space is cheap and economically viable.
thesmtsolver2··on ADHD as a circadian rhythm disorder: evidence and implications for chronotherapy (2025)
When are you taking it? There are a lot of studies that indicate that stimulants HELP sleep.

You should re-evaluate what is happening to you as it is not an ideal situation: it may be possible you have something else instead of ADHD (or together with ADHD) or you maybe taking it too late in the day.

If you really have ADHD and aren't abusing Adderall, it should help you sleep better:

Nope wrong.
thesmtsolver2··on High Diesel Prices Bankrupted 16 Trucking Companies in Just 30 Days
So should we then makes buses also pay their fare share? I know you will then respond with second-order effects of buses and public transportation without considering that for trucks.

And yeah you can have rail for every city and store in a distributed country like the US.

thesmtsolver2··on The logic of gambling undergirds everything coming out of Silicon Valley
When the geniuses at NYT discover quantum mechanics also uses probability.

“Breaking: The logic of gambling undergirds our reality!!!”

thesmtsolver2··on Your Big Mac might cost more if McDonald's AI thinks people nearby can afford it
Water is a basic need. McDonald’s and Uber are not basic needs.
thesmtsolver2··on Research finds 485 chemicals in US pesticide products linked to breast cancer
How much of it is due to other sources of death being addressed?
thesmtsolver2··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
And ASML wouldn't be possible without US taxpayer funded research. ASML's extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology utilized foundational research from the U.S. Department of Energy.

> In 1997, ASML began studying a shift to using extreme ultraviolet.[7] Two years later, it joined a consortium, which included Intel and two other U.S. chipmakers, in order to exploit fundamental research conducted by the US Department of Energy. Because the Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) it operates under is funded by the US government, licensing must be approved by Congress.[14] Furthermore, in return for being permitted to join this consortium, ASML committed to the establishment of a US-based research center and to source 55 percent of components for all machines sold in the US from American suppliers.[7] ASML collaborated with various manufacturers to obtain mirrors, including the Belgian firms IMEC and Sematech as well as Germany's Carl Zeiss.[14][15]

thesmtsolver2··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
> I get the sarcasm, but its not like e.g. TSMC popped up in a environment of pure libertarian free market capitalism.

Nobody said that. That is a strawman

thesmtsolver2··on California is chasing wealth that has feet
Why?
thesmtsolver2··on Every U.S. State Ranks Above Every Foreign Economy in Household Consumption
Wouldn't government subsidies increase consumption?

So the point is even with govt subsidies and a generous oil industry, Norway ranks below all US states.

thesmtsolver2··on Every U.S. State Ranks Above Every Foreign Economy in Household Consumption
The chart literally says PPP, how is overpriced?

> No one would willingly live in Mississippi over France or Italy.

Have you seen parts of Paris? Not all parts of Mississippi are bad.

thesmtsolver2··on UK military jamming other nations' satellites to defend itself, BBC told
I think this comment is the tech equivalent of "if they can't eat bread, let them eat cake"
thesmtsolver2··on Tokens Too Cheap to Meter
> Barring a true breakthrough in something like quantum computing or room-temperature superconductors

Won't that also help grep and then move the asymptote down more?

thesmtsolver2··on Meta bans ads for Virginia Woolf play in Spain
Look at the comment by mediaman

> The article doesn't mention this, of course, but Meta prohibits "socially sensitive" advertising due to the EU's TTPA law, or "Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising." It imposes substantial bureaucratic compliance burden on advertising platforms to accept ads that deal with political issues. Meta decided that the revenue wasn't worth the compliance burden, so they do not accept any political advertising at all. They filter anything that smells like political or social issues, whether it be a campaign about anti-immigration or a play about feminism, because if they accept it they will get heavily fined by the EU. This is why Meta does not ban this advertising outside of the EU. It's a EU regulatory problem. The Register does not mention this anywhere in the article. reply
